Harry Keaton at Fool Us: "Greatest Act"

Ойын-сауық

Harry Keaton with Brain Magic. He fools Penn & Teller at Fool Us in Las Vegas. They say: "This is the greatest act we have ever seen" (and they have seen hundreds of magic acts).

The slow shift of Penn's face from ''ok'' to ''My mind is somewhere in a different galaxy'' after each prop is hilarious to say the least. Masterful performance - even us at home that on video can ''see something', it still doesn't explain 5% of the trick, let alone everything else. Brilliant, absolute perfect trick!

Just a phenomenal, brilliant, perfectly executed trick. And on top of it all, such charm, and such class. Mentioning that two other men were involved in the conception; turning the comment about "pissing people off" to a positive message. Absolutely wonderful -- it compelled me to leave a comment!!

Maybe it is natural for 'Muricans' to use that of vocabulary. . i too immediately noticed it and did find her choice of words a bit strange

When he showed the rock I was like: well the "rock" can be a sculpture out of sponge. Then he dropped it and it make a bang and I was like: well, he can place a heavy object inside the sponge sculpture, the bang will probably sell the illusion of solidity. And then he gave it to Alysson and I was like: okay, I've got nothing...

This is a great trick in itself, but seeing Allison having a legitimate blown-mind really makes the trick fly. You see a sleight of hand card trick, and the person looks amazed or surprised, and that's cool. But here, Allison is just completely twirled at what her hand is telling her compared to her eyes. Beautiful.

you messed up @4:31, i can clearly see you moving something out of the box, but where the cactus came from is another thing. probably more than 1 chamber in it. i can't believe they didn't catch that @4:31. if i'd have to take a guess, that cactus was gimmick, something that pops up. i could see you meddling with something right before removing the front panel, i think you "popped" the cactus up from its base. i know similar tricks, altho you say you invented it, it's based on the size-misconception. Alyson's hand was only 1/3 in the box, she couldn't have reached the bottom, no way. so cactus was probably in gimmick box and popped up. rest was sleight of hand, at least that's my guess how it was done. altho you messed up a bit, it was still quite amazing and unique performance. that's the best part about magic, if you do an illusion that has never seen before, then nobody knows what to expect or where to look.

Hi Harry. I have a bit of an odd question - when you were filming your episode of Fool Us, were there any other performers being filmed that day besides the ones who appeared in the episode you were featured in (Arkadia, Derek, Jandro)? I'm just curious because I have heard that multiple magicians are filmed in each block and then they're split up between different episodes, so I was wondering if anyone else who was filmed for the Inventors special ended up in another episode.

  • @KeatonHarry

    @KeatonHarry

Hi James, of course the producers film all magicians with certain ideas in their mind. They need to decide afterwards what to do with the performances ... it´s quite complex: How many international acts should be in one episode, how many foolers, male/female acts, funny vs. serious ... the timing in television is different than in live shows.

  • @jamesbevan9939

@@KeatonHarry Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was just curious because to me, it really only felt like you and Arkadia were the only performers featured in the Inventors episode that met that episode's criteria (no disrespect to Jandro or Derek; they were good but their routines didn't really feel like inventions, so I guessed they were filmed on other days but slotted into that episode)

the cactus base is were the cuddly toy and the hair brush or hidden , he then removes the cactus part while the brush or toy is put in its place as he moves alison from right to left , at 4.50 you can see the side of the base is not like the rest and even has it facing away from view all the time even when he sets it back over on the table , can see him remove few things also be for cactus reveal , and things hanging from his jacket , also look at alisons arm , it dosnt even go that far into the box , just about to were the base of the cactus would be . was more impressed with the rock

I can think of a few ways of imitating this but no way to implement it on that tiny platform, and no way to get something as large as that cactus in there. I have no idea how you did it.

I think the cactus folds flat... and then bends open to the form we see...

I’m surprised that penn and teller couldn’t see how the trick worked from their ‘lowered ‘ view, it was quite easy to work out .. but the trick itself was had a brilliant story plot

The only problem with this trick is that we, the audience, need to rely on Alison to convince us of what she felt. We don't get to experience the trick first hand but only second hand, so to speak.

That´s true and that´s why I show different kind of magic in one show ... to ensure that there are enough first hand experiences 🙂
