Harry Chapin - All My Life's a Circle

Музыка

Harry Chapin - Rockpalast Live taped in Germany on April 12, 1977
All my life's a circle, sunrise and sundown
Moon rolls through the night-time till the daybreak comes around
All my life's a circle I can't tell you why
Seasons spinning round again, the years keep rolling by
Seems like I've been here before, and I well remember when
I've got a funny feeling that we'll all be together again
No straight lines make up my life, all my roads are bends
There's no clear-cut beginning and so far no dead ends
I've found you a thousand times, I know you've done the same
Then we lose each other, it's like a children's game
If I find you here again the thought comes through my mind
Life is like a circle, let's go round one more time
Note: The syncronization was a bit off, so I fixed and re-uploaded this wonderful song. directorzone.cyberlink.com/vid...

I am 68, my children are in their 30's with families of their own. I would sing these lyrics to them until I could not stay awake any longer. Now, years later they sing the same words to there children. Beautiful!

I talked with Harry twice.. in 1975, and in 1977. Not just a hello, but for more than an hour each time.. sitting on the edge of the stage, our feet dangling over.. just shooting the sh*t, him and I after everyone had left. He was a profoundly generous, kind, and intelligent man of conviction. Part of me still mourns his loss after all these years.

I saw him twice at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, the first time was in the fall of 1977, only a few months after the performance in this video. His concerts were magic. I'll never forget them. I can't believe we're coming up on the 43rd anniversary of him being taken from us. How much better would this world have been if he had not been taken so early in his life.

I remember when he died. I was 12, at sleep-away camp, and the music director at our camp apparently had a close personal connection of some sort with Mr. Chapin, and was a big advocate of his music, sometimes performing it with a band for the campers. When he died, there was a pall hanging over our camp for days, dissipating over weeks. I always get doubly sad hearing the sad song "Cat's in the Cradle," thinking how Mr. Chapin's life just flew by just as in the song, without a chance to realize the possibilities built into his early promise, the fulfillments deferred to a day that would never come.

I had Tickets to see Harry on July 17th, 1981 at the Garden State Arts Center in Homdel NJ. I saw him in concert every time I could. When it came over the radio in my vehicle of his Unbelieveable Tragic Loss. I was driving down the Garden State Parkway, I had to pull over and began to Cry. I Love his Music, his Love for Humanity, and he was beyond his years a Master Trubador. I Loved his Music and Him So Much. "All My Lifes a Circle" will Forever be etched in my Mind and Voice. Thank You Harry for Everything, Love you My Brother - because All My Life is but a Circle!!!! "Gunny"

I met Harry in 1981 during his final concert tour. In New Orleans at the Saenger Theater. I shook his hand and he looked me in the eyes...and into my soul. I visited his grave in Huntington, New York, and left coins on his tombstone. I said, "Harry, keep the change." I've never gotten over missing him. He had such an impact on me. I love you, Harry, and I miss you so much.

I first heard Harry sing after a "Hike for Hope" in Rochester NY, it was 1971 and I was a kid of 14. He was playing "Teach your Children" and I was transfixed! I stood listening to his songs as he even played a brand new song off his almost released album, "Sniper and other Love Songs". He played Sniper, I was hooked after that! Harry could tell such amazing stories. He told us about life, loss, love and even obsession. During the 70s I saw Harry 5 times in concert. I even had tickets for his Los Angeles concert in 1981. Nobody saw that show. Since 1981, Harry's spirit, his music and his legacy lives on to this day through his children and his grandkids. I know I am only one of millions his words and deeds have touched. I am so very thankful for the good he did, and for all of the hearts he spoke to. Bless you Harry!!

Harry(& his band) was so good & and generous that he invited the audience to return for the 2nd show that night, free of charge since it wasn't sold out. So i did just that! But first, I had to drop off my girlfriend's best friend(girlfriend didn't make it back in time from visiting her father in CA). So I dragged my older brother out for the second show, only to fully grasp the lyrics of "Taxi" - "I go flying so high, when Im ...!" RIP Harry

Yup. That's because he's talking about where we actually live, why the stars always come exactly back to where they started every 365.25 days. Where the sun and moon actually travel, and how that creates our seasons. Most of the greats knew the truth way before we all caught on in February of 2015. We all know this. But we've been indoctrinated in false beliefs. Well we were anyways. So this resonates as true, and you can't tell why. It gives it that spiritual feeling. It's your subconscious and your memories reminding your conscious mind of what it once knew. If you need some others.... Listen to R.E.M.'s Stand, Nirvana's On a Plain, The Who's I can see for Miles or Red Hot Chili Pepper's Californication.

My best knowledge of Harry is Greatest Stories Live(thanks to my Mom), and now I know what the Cellist singer looked like. I'm big into metal, hip hop and industrial music, and most of the music I listen to is when I'm bike riding, and hidden within my metal and hip hop etc, are some Harry Chapin songs. This comes up a lot. I always pictured the Cellist as a thick bearded kind of guy. Well, now I know, lol. Thanks for the post!

I met Harry in the early 70s. He "infected" me with his music, passion and sincerity. I miss him all the time. The circle continues. And the world keeps rolling by.
