Meet Doris Karamatić, a harpist with a passion for exploring the versatility of her instrument beyond its classical roots. Born in Split in 1971, Doris attended the musical school Josip Hatze before graduating in harp from the Musical Academy in Zagreb under the tutelage of Professor M. Mlinar in 1996.
Doris joined the orchestra of the city theater Komedija after graduation, where she has been a valuable member for several years. She has also expanded her repertoire into the realms of jazz, rock, and heavy metal, having studied improvisation in Vienna with Professor M. Stadler.
Doris has collaborated with a diverse array of musicians in Croatia, including Ivan Kapec, Matija Dedić, Joe Pandur, Maja Grgić, Psihomodo pop, Bambi Molesters, and more. She is a member of the jazz band Aqua Bronza and the trio Patchwork, led by Davor Rocco.
In 2008, Doris founded the D strings band, which specializes in instrumental covers of rock and heavy metal classics, such as Metallica, AC/DC, Nirvana, and Led Zeppelin, with a unique harp twist. The band's album featuring these covers will be released soon.
Doris has appeared on various TV shows, including Garage, Good morning Croatia, and Global Gathering, among others. She has also performed live at prestigious events such as the Supetrus festival, Radio festival, Grand Prix Marulić, More ohr less (Lunz, Austria), and the Garden festival. Doris has also been a guest artist on albums by Ana Rucner, Terry Lee Halle, Danijela Martinović, and others.
Doris Karamatić is an accomplished and innovative musician who continues to push the boundaries of her instrument. Her love for exploring different genres and collaborating with diverse artists has earned her recognition and respect in the music industry.
