He made Gummo. I thought it was impossible for someone so young to make such a truthful impactful film, than I thought it could only be a young guy making it, a older guy would think too much of the consequences.
Favorite show I’ve ever come across on KZread! Vice gets the spect from this show about skateboarding. Harmony is so interesting,I was praying this clip would not end. Kids was such a moment in time
I have to admit, he makes me nostalgic when he talked about the 80' & 90's skateboarding area. I kinda miss those days you know, when skateboarding attracted the recluses, the hardcores, bad boys, misfits and other urban weirdos who didn't fit in the typical football team. Now I feel the culture is so diluted, sterile and clean, full of competitive jocks wearing Redbull shirts and ugly Nike shoes. Really miss the good old raw days.

@@pablosmith5473 I get it... I also get that there is a huge range between the "football team" and the "resclusive, hardcore, badboy" That being said. Nikes are a shoe, and they look alright and skate alright. The essence behind what you're talking about is strictly romantic. If I were trying to date a skateboarder then maybe I would consider brooding after that 80s 90s type, however if i were to go skateboarding, I may just pop on a pair of some trusty-dusty ishods' and just go skate.

@Internet User aight never change man! 🤣 lots of reminiscing goin on here. I still find the time to skate 6 hours daily, and think someone trying to say what "skateboarding is" is a little bit silly. Those kids at the park spamming tricky tricks are probably having more fun than you are judging them. Its not like people went from 10inch boards & punk rock, skating curbs - to skateparks being in every little community. There was a whole street-era between that. That street culture still exists and is still very much so alive today. I came from the DC area skating, and always found the suburban patch-vest punk rock thing to be a bit hokie, conformie, and gate-keepie. But ya know if it makes you happy, then it cant be so bad. Maybe I too will sow some patches on to a denim jacket today and go slappy some curbz. Im tired of the shackles that bind me

In Miami all my housemates skated and surfed in the late 70s early 80s.
Spring Breakers was fire and a misunderstood masterpiece. I didn't watch it for a long time because the commercials didn't do it justice.. I thought it would be some dumb feminist garbo. The movie itself is like being on a schizo drug bender, immersion in hood life and hallucinogenics. Harmony Korines got mad skills and I can't wait to watch more of his work.

I grew up and currently live a short drive from the beaches where Spring Breakers was shot. I used to get ice cream at the Twistee Treat in the background of the shot when the girls are singing Britney Spears in the parking lot of the mini mart all of the time, when I was a kid. I’m not sure I can separate my fondness for the area from my fondness for the movie; like I do like it, and I agree that it’s less of a beginning/middle/end-type movie than it is just a artfully, lecherous vibe. But I guess now I’m not sure where I was going with this. Just felt like sharing!

One doesn’t experience self transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates- 🟥
@mrmotl1
2 жыл бұрын
It's not an illusion it is very real. I understand your use of the word, but to use it as such would deny reality itself as so and therefore you would have to change the definition of "illusion" and deny the word "reality" as well. Therefore just don't forget reality is true and unlike your imagination not just a figment of your mind.
