Harley Knuckle ready, Paradise Roadshow Next Weekend

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Been a couple weeks since we put up a video. Sorry 'bout that. I think the Knuckle is ready. Check out my cool battery and hopefully, we'll see you at the upcoming events.

    Greetings and Salutations from the frozen, icy wastelands of east central Mississippi! Man, I am tired of this arctic cold business! I like that jacket! I saw a T shirt design from J&P Cycles today that caught my eye for the same reasons... A Black shirt with white writing and a cool design... But this one was a play off the TV show Sons of Anarchy.... It was a double rocker design with a cool skull design in the middle. The top rocker said "Sons of Arthritis" and the bottom rocker had "Ibuprofen Chapter" ... Funny as can be, but totally relatable!

    Thank you for the video, Pacific Mike and Cameraman Mike, great job as always. I appreciate you took the time to highlight the importance of keeping the battery fresh. I've been riding my Shovelhead (FXS 80" from 1979) since 1989 and looking back I can see that many of the problems that occured came down to electrical failures. Neglecting the condition of the wiring and the battery and not connecting it properly is asking for trouble (because everything is vibrating a lot on those old H-Ds). Also, now there are so many "magic boxes" available to connect everything in an easier way and reducing the number of wires on your bike, so I was tempted to go that way if I hadn't re-wired my bike recently. Keep up the heat in your garage, it's the time of the year when you take care of your bikes rather than riding them because of snow and ice, at least here in Sweden.

    I made a similar setup for my pan. I use a dry AGM 12v battery for a computer UPS. Fits in with room for a circuit breaker inside. Kick only, with Dynatek dual fire ignition, so the bike hardly uses any juice. Cycle Electric genny with low output end mounted regulator. Trouble free.

    IO run the same, except still run points. I do enjoy a Halogen Headlight and Cycle Electric generator and I had a new Electric Frank's regulator (pretty much the same as Cycle Electric. My coil is Dynatech fitted into a stock appearing early coil case.

    Great Video Guys...are the risers on your Knuckle four inches in height? What style bars are those? One inch thick? It's been way below zero in Montana for the last few weeks. We had wind chill at sixty-five below a few nights back. Couldn't get the garage door open for three days...have fun at the shows.

  • @pacificmike9501

    @pacificmike9501

    Thank You. The risers are Flanders originals. V-Twin is now copying them. Flanders no longer produces them. The bars are 1" Flanders draag bars. I believe Drag Specialties carries them or look up Flanders in Pasadena California. They are the worlds oldest handlebar manufacturers.

    A 6v system is not a positive ground , the original 3 brush system works with a relay to regulate flow , the light circuit will kick in the 2nd field increasing amperage for lighting. A good 6v system will last many years and miles using original parts . Many trouble free miles with my original generator on my 51

    Hey Mike getting ready to convert my 39EL TO 12volt what gauge wire did you use for battery ground? Got cycle electric generator, was running old 6volt 2 brush fan generator should i just pull gear off that and put on new generator?

  • @pacificmike9501

    @pacificmike9501

    5 ай бұрын

    I use #14 wire on all of it. The gear will fit right on. But, look in your service manual on fitting the generator to the bike so the generator gear meshes properly with the idler gear inside the camchest. This is very important. I've shown it on our videos. Go to our homepage and click on the word "videos." There's a bunch of videos there. If you can't find it, write back. But don't skip fitting that gear properly.
