Question- my bike pushes easier in neutral than it does in first with the clutch fully in. Do all bike have that resistance or is it a malfunction?

What??? If you’ve ever had to bump start and push yourself, you have to do it in neutral, bike doesn’t roll the same with clutch in and in gear!😅

Exactly, it is all about the rider. Not saying I can launch for shit BUT I've had both a 1200 Evo Sporty and (currently) a Dyna 103 TC. Ain't much difference between em. If anything, I think my 103 is faster off the line. Not NEARLY as nimble tho. Sportsters are fun bikes.

I do that a lot with friends. I take them on even way slower bikes then mine all the time.. I have 5 Harley’s 2kawasakis a Honda& Yamaha.. I have a completely built dyna. That I blow by my bagger with other riders on it.. but blow by it with them on it too. It’s all in technique& know how. The guy on the sporty looked like he didn’t know anything about getting out of the hole like a slingshot..

That’s exactly how I bump start a bike by myself!! It’s hard to push the bike with it in gear and clutch in! 😅

My 1200 can’t touch , the fat bob 😂

I don't understand why 1200 doesn't have any issues keeping up with any other Harley. All I upgraded is the clutch disc and exhaust

I've got a carbureted superglide with an 88 and an xb9sx Buell with, essentially, a 1000cc sportster engine with slightly hotter cams and a little higher compression. The Buell is definitely quicker than the Dyna up to about 60mph, but then the Dyna will easily pull away. Superglide is a great all around bike, btw.

I had a 2005 1200 Custom Stage 1. Now I have a 2013 Dyna 103 TC with just pipes. My Sporty was not noticeably faster than my Dyna. And it ain't like I'm lighter now than I was 7 years ago lol. That TC has grunt, ya just gotta get it over 4,500

I feel like that sport would dust it. Been around em all and them means bikes. The Harley sport that get so much hate for being a “learner” a “girls bike”. A 1200 sport can dust almost all the big bikes. And with a few upgrades you have a small bike sleeper. The sport is a great bike for any rider don’t listen to the Harley hate. I have 2004 sport and even the old heads approve and tell me how much they miss their sportster.

Novice/ first time rider here. My first bike is an 08 sportster 1200. It seems very heavy for me. I'm doing the rider safety course and they have us on smaller 250's that feel comfortable for me. I haven't ridden my bike yet so i hope the comfort level i have on the smaller lighter less powerful bike transfers to mine , with a lot of practice of course. The weight of my bike makes me really nervous. Good luck man , be safe👍👍👍 it's crazy when you see a 4 foot 85 pound girl on a huge full dresser in a 90 degree wheelie standing on the seat lol , that has to be like 1,000 pounds.

Uh I hate to tell you that was the dyna in front. The sporty has a sissy bar. And for the record, a 1200 may jump my RG out of the hole, but by 3rd im walking away from him. Done it before.

Ive ran 4 different sportys on my 09 fatbob 96ci just a tuner and pipes not one of em ever got close enough for me to hear em after we launched maybe on a race track because its easier to though em around then a full sived mans bike but you cant tell these women anything im sorry sporter rides, same thing
