That might be the answer for my struggle. I'm connecting 4 wire tail lights into my 2008 sportster and I'm having issue with stop light and signal, everything i use turn signal in losing stop light (I've connected white to black, black to blue, red and yellow to purple) now I'll try to pull 4th wire from the harness...

Thanks for the video. I'm trying to do something similar but make the rear fender brake light to be the only brake light. With your setup, does the turn signals also light up when you brake?

Yes, and they are also a constant running light as well.

Great video! I just got a 2011 sportster 1200 now it only has the two turn signals on the back my question is stock form do those also function as brake lights? I know they are running lights also I’m trying diagnose if I have a brake light switch issue or if I got the bike without a brake light all together

The stock tail lights should have constant running lights, get brighter when the brake is engaged, and flash for turn signals/hazards. If not I would first check your bulbs and fuses.

I had to test each connection with my volt meter to determine what connections did what. I'm guessing HD changed up their color codes with the new models perhaps?

Hey man awesome write up, I also have a ‘13 48 but my right/left signal module only has three wires (black purple blue) with no fourth slot. Where do you recommend I splice by brake light too?

Hard to say, they probably change wire colors to mess with us. I would take a volt meter to see which wires do what. The wiring diagrams I found for mine didn't match my colors so I had to do this also.
