Man, I would LOVE to hang around with these guys. You'd learn so much just from watching.
All In 17 minutes ...pretty good... I remember a little over 30 years ago when the first time I tried to do this it probably took me about an hour. I didn't trust myself so I kept retracing my steps...
This is exactly what I'm going through right now... I also have solid lifters and aluminum pushrods in a 48 pan shovel.
very well filmed, narrated and explained!

Beautiful bike
Muchas gracias
Muy bien... Necesito video de como armar y lubricar cluoth. Estoy restaurando un dúo glide de 1958 no tengo el manual de reparación.
I have been trying to figure out how to get my dads panhead running without it blowing my leg off and all the old school guys I talk to not a single one has mentioned how to adjust your advance and retard this video is what I have been looking for thanks bro
Sheer porn for Harley lovers. I also learned something I didn't totally understand. In my home town, there was an old man who had a 48 or 49 Harley (with springer forks) and I remember him telling me (many years ago) that he had hydraulic lifters in his - so I assumed all the HD's of those model years had the same arrangement. Your video brought HD solid lifters to my attention. This video was well-filmed and explained. Made me feel like I was right there working on the bike myself...

Thank you! Much appreciated!
Soy Erides de panama le agradezco su cooperacion
Nice! But I have one question: Do I need to remove the front cylinder head if I would like to demount the distributor? This would be bad because currently my Pan is running with an e-spark distributor but I would like to replace it with an original distributor which I bought. By the way: with this video it should be easy to set the points and get the Pan running... at the moment I don't know how to adjust the e-spark distributor and this is really annoying me :D

Sorry for a late response, you don't usually have to pull the head, there's defiantly some maneuvering required but you should be able to work it out without tearing more off!
All that and you didn't get it fired up?
I like that open primary setup you have there, I have an 83 shovel that I would like to convert from closed to this setup, can you lead me in the right direction on achieving this ? Thanks in advance

Yah man! Easy switch for you there! Bdl sells the full kits to swap over! If you have a hard time finding one I could even ship one over!

@@houseofchoppersshoot me a number and I'll get ahold of you man
You set the timing mark on crank forward in the sight hole, but you said 1:00. Did you mean to say 11:00? My Pan head service manual says set mark to rear in hole, S&S instructions also. What would you think for my S&S pan head stroked motor? Q
@houseofchoppers

Yup my mistake I did mean 11 o clock. I typically set them a bit advanced. For a stroker motor you would probably want to be at 12 o clock or 11:30. the kickback from a big inch is brutal

@@houseofchoppers cool thanks
5:30 you never showed what you mean by 1 O’Clock 😢
This is a 49? timing mark should be at the right side of the window, just entering the window, not sure what you mean with at one o'clock. Otherwise nice vid.

@@harolddalesr8365 definitely not sir! 48-53(?) is different from later years. Not sure when centerline was introduced, thought it was 54 up. 49 is definitely right side of the window.
