    I like to take my time working on my bikes. Hopefully, after 40yrs of working on my own Harleys, I can still make an oil change last an hour or more.

    Hey thanks for watching. This video is only 5 mins of demo and info, but doesn’t suggest it can be done in anywhere near that time frame. I agree with you, it’s a good 45 mins to an hour job if you take your time. 👍🏻

    I hate working on the ground.. thats why I built my own air bag lift table.. its paid for itself as it has been extremely handy. Bike has been on and off it many times doing the drive belt fork seals and many tyre changes.. I will video it one day.. haha

    Nice vid, cheers. I have decided to do both my Fatboys myself as I’m sick of cleaning up the dealerships mess after a service. I also want to go synthetic but haven’t decided which brand to go with🤔I have 2 2021 Fatboys (one is the wife’s)

    Thanks for the lesson. I've always purchased the "service plan" and have not serviced my bikes myself. I've gotten lazy in my older years. Time has caught up with me. Life is too busy to take her to the dealership. I'd rather work on my own stuff anyhow. Thanks for your video and tips. I have one question though. I noticed that you did all the work on the floor and on the stand while the bike is at an angle. I assume that the angle doesn't bother the amount of fluids that go in or come out matter much?

    Let me just say, that after surviving Cancer one thing is sure. Life is not a Rehearsal. Life is too busy is not a option for me. I simply find the time, and do it, whatever it is. Working on my own stuff gives me that sense of accomplishment. In regards to the oil change, I find I need stand the bike up or have it level at least when filling through the open derby cover.

    Take derby cover off before draining the primary!

    Because I’ve seen numerous occasions where people drained it and then stripped the bolts on the primary cover and then can’t get it off & they can’t refill it!

    @bigdawgqc Ahhh I was wondering about your reasoning. Very good point, definitely worth at the least loosening them. Wow, after 40 plus years on bikes still learning thinks like this. Cheers

    I don’t understand the theory of filling up the filter with oil when installing a new one.. Not picking on you heaps of people do it. I just don’t understand why? I have been changing engine oils for decades and don’t do it.

  • @thatharleycouple

    @thatharleycouple

    Just something I was taught as a young fella. I presume its all about having some oil in the filter to speed up getting the new oil to the engine rather that running dry even for a small amount of time.

  • @marknewbill

    I actually had a bike "vapor lock" because of a pre filled filter and never would achieve oil pressure. never any issues with dry filters. had to loosen the filter to get the oil flowing. so no, i dont pre fill any more.
