Man I always love seeing a Harley primary being taken apart. Just a cool process. Looking forward to seeing the chain drive. As a shaft drive guy I still dig the look and the power the chain provides. Good video Jay!

Unessasary to take the stator off. The inner primary comes off without interference. Unless your having a charging issue then it’s not in the way.

I completely agree. I actually noted that I made the mistake towards end of the video.

5:19: Righty is tighty- lefty is loosey: my daughters now know everything about swedish furniture. I told them years ago. Inbetween they're indepented. And never ask to help. Whatever About the original Primary-chain-tensioner: Only one clik between too straight or too loose. I've installed Hayden's chain-tensioner with 2 progressive springs. Tension altime.

You right on the compensator but the clutch basket assembly is reverse threads, I forgot to mention it. I realized it sounded more confusing after you mentioned that. I appreciate the feed back!

When I did my chain conversion on my fxr I got stuck on the bolt on the backside of the primary lol. One thing to look out for is the primary bearing race, it has been known to walk in towards the transmission and damage the seal. There's a couple people that make a solution for it, I used S&S

I just bought the tool for that. It looks to be okay, but I’ll know for sure soon. I’ve known of Bakers and Jim’s. I’m going to check out S&S for the fix. I appreciate the advice!

Why in the hell would you put a chain On ? Take it from somebody who has been riding long before you where born the belt is a way better set up .

  • @freebirdsgarage

Belts are 💯 more reliable. I wanted something I can change the ratio on. The 5 speed on the FXR is nice, but can be very limiting.
