I see it as an alternative to the gibson eb-3 with the shape of a ric and for a fraction of the price.

I have been playing my RB414 for a year and I love it. Ironically the tone really shines with a touch of overdrive; not quite to the extent in this video but just enough to make it sound natural.

Yeah, these Artec pickups take the "natural overdrive" settings on my ODB-3 pedal remarkably well. One of the first things that I noticed when I initially played this bass a few months back. And I seem to like mine even more with time. Bought it as a backup for my 1974 Greco RB 800 (to me the best Japanese vintage Ric copy). But I reach for the HB significantly more lately. No real reason to bust out the older copy, when this newer copy serves just as well with very little comparative downside risk. Looks good, sounds great, what's not to like?.

I have to say that I love this bass.... such a wicked Growl! Well Done HB!

Straight sound and growl. And for 200€, you don‘t make a mistake. I‘ m absolutely a Stingray fan and player, but this is cute. For reason that there is the pickguardshield, you have to hit the strings very near to the neck. This has big influence this kind of sound. And not to forget - a good player in this video! Thanks.

Buy one you won’t regret it.

This video is helping me to make a choice among a few HB basses. From this, I see that this bass is well-suited for the hard-edged sound, and that's not the way I play. So, I'll go for one of the other basses by HB. I was taken by the wicked good looks of this one, but another will probably suit me more in the long run. If you're playing an instrument, you're not really looking at it, so buy the sound and feel that suits you. Harley B has several from which to choose. I'm leaning toward the B450 or the Beatbass.

Can you demonstrate in another video the HB DNAfx git?

a 5 string version of this would be nice

This thing is gorgeous as it is and I will most likely get one. But have an option for block inlays or dare I suggest shark fin inlays (as a certain popular bass model) and you won't be able to keep up with demand. Excellent work Harley Benton.

The RB-414 bridge is way worse than the Embassy Pro bridge. Just sayin'...

The original rick has a slightly shorter scale length than the usual long scale bass (which makes playing it a little different and I like it). The sound is also different from a Rick but it sounds very nice. I'm glad you guys didn't copy the bridge though!

That's a weird place to pick the strings (behind the pickup) - I don't think my right arm bends that far back - let me try... ouch (cramp). ;) Sounds great tho. :) Now let's try muting the strings for part of this track - mmm, just need to remove the pickup guard first (rest of band waits impatiently whilst I search for the screwdriver...). ;) j/k

Move it up. Mine comes with both mic pretty low, resulting in a lake of muscle (compare to my Squier P and my Yamaha BB, same settings on the amp, my RB was 10db behind !!). I moved both up (almost to max), it really improve.

He meant to raise the pickup. Which I could have sworn that I had already replied that I have raised the pickup as high as it can go and it's still got weak output.

Would you share the soundtrack ? I own a RB414CS, i'm curious to see if i can compare (without the Orange Terror ;)) Might be an interesting comparison

I have one coming from Thomann .I got it on line but had to wait over 3 months for new stock.Mine just shipped yesterday.I don't know what to expect as I've heard both good and "meh"reviews but for $280usd including shipping if it's halfway decent it's a win.

@@DMSProduktions Yeah, the fretboard is one area that could be nicer. It seems to dry out relatively soon after oiling. Still, for only $200 bucks, that seems a small price to pay. Only real complaint that I would have. I can almost always get my hands on a new bottle of fretboard oil within a day of the need arising. And I'll have got some left over dough from buying this bass to spend on it. So all good in the end, really.

I'm all for jokes like these but really, using different playing styles for songs that need them is one of the most professional things a bassist can do. Also, it's pretty misleading for the ones starting out.

Sounds n looks great. But not sure how you can say ‘uniqueness’ when it looks n sounds like a rather well known US bass.. 🤷🏻‍♂️
