Harley 4 Speed Shifter Top Tear Down, Inspection, and Assembly.

I fully disassemble the ratcheting mechanism and shifter top to check that all the parts are in good working order. Everything looked good so I put it back together with fresh gaskets and grease! Easy peasy 😁 👍

    I'm sure Angel I'll never need to know how to rebuild an old school 4speed Harley transmission, but it was immensely fascinating none the less. Many many years ago I started striping down the transmission for my 76 Yamaha DT 175. I got as far as opening it up, took a good look & made a B line for the bike shop and a real mechanic lol. Mind you that was not long after the fall of the Roman empire so you weren't making videos yet 😅.

    It's fun to observe and study technical solutions on old motorcycles. It was as if they were specially created in order to leave a greasy trail on the ground after themselves (as if they marked the territory by saying: I was here) 😂❤. During your opener, I was waiting for the men with the giant Butterfly Net to come take you away in a nice, shiny straight jacket when you were having your debate with.... a cotter pin... :) Not for talking to it, but for not jumping up and down, yellin' and cussin' at it! That rational, persuasive tone is the sign that you have moved on past that stage and into dangerous territory... Or girls just know that stompin and cussin cotter pins does absolutely no good ! :)

  • @RedRiderCanadaBC

    @RedRiderCanadaBC

    4 ай бұрын

    Well, having trouble finding neutral is pretty typical on a motorcycle if its running. If you are riding and want to pop it into neutral at a light or something when you stop, it is a lot easier to find neutral if the bike is still rolling rather than when it is at a complete stop.
