Harlan Coben in Conversation with John Grisham

On Monday, March 22, 2021, Darien Library and Barrett Bookstore welcomed Harlan Coben, a #1 New York Times bestselling author and one of the world's leading storytellers to talk about his new book, Win, with author John Grisham. Coben's suspense novels are published in forty-five languages and have been number one bestsellers in more than a dozen countries, with seventy-five million books in print worldwide.
About Win
In Win, Windsor Horne Lockwood III - or Win as his few friends call him - is a handsome American blueblood and heir to a vast fortune who savors the best of everything: luxurious homes, fine wine, jets and helicopters, beautiful and accomplished women and exclusive private clubs. He’s also a one-time FBI agent who uses his incomparable intellect, elite-level physical training and immense financial resources to deliver his own unique brand of justice, sometimes collaborating secretly with his former bosses.
Win centers around a set of cold cases that have baffled the FBI for decades: the brutal murder of Win’s uncle and the kidnapping of his cousin, heiress Patricia Lockwood; the disappearance of the “Jane Street Six” who vanished after a shocking act of terrorism on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in the 1970s; and the theft from a college art gallery of two masterpiece paintings owned by the Lockwood family. When a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment overlooking Central Park alongside one of these stolen paintings - a rare Vermeer - and a leather suitcase bearing Win’s initials, a surprising connection to all of the cases is revealed that piques Win’s interest and propels him on a quest to uncover the answers to these unsolved mysteries once and for all.
From a gruesome “hut of horrors” and rarified Main Line Philadelphia estates to dingy Manhattan dive bars and West Virginia doggie spas, Win pursues every lead, encountering jaw-dropping danger and threats to himself and those closest to him while unearthing shocking, long-buried secrets along the way. With masterful, classic Coben twists and turns throughout, you will be on the edge of your seat up until the very last page.

My two favorite authors coming together. John Grisham got me to start reading with "A Time To Kill." I was going through a divorce when I saw the title in the book section at my local grocery store, and I thought, "Huh. That's fitting as to how I feel!" (I'm friends with my ex today in case you're curious.) And Harlan Coben showed me that we're all human and crave simplicity and companionship in an often complicated and antagonistic world through the "Myron Bolitar" novels. Thank you both gentlemen for your works, but more importantly, thank you for being true to your craft.
