Hardwiring an Adventure Kings Thumper Max into the 80series Landcruiser. Project Old Girl.

Part two of project Old Girl. Join me as I install and hardwire a new Adventure Kings Thumper Max duel piston air compressor into the back of the ole 80series Landcruiser. I also attempt to mount a work light on the spare tire swing out.

Here is what I discovered. Under load ie when pumping a tyre this unit draws 90 amps. I suspect the wire you used is not rated for that current draw. I learnt the hard way. I tested it without load just as you did and patted myself on the back for a job well done. 14 psi on the beach and burnt wires with no way to pump up the tyres.

Nice way to mount the air compressor. I read some of the post below and they made some good points about the wires, also dealing with my compressor I know those 2 heat sinks on top would get hot and I noticed you have your mounted next to the plastic I hope it doesn't melt that plastic trim.

I mounted mine in an ammo case on my roof rack. Makes it easy to reach all the tyres.

I personally would add a circuit breaker sooner rather than later, other than that, nice video mate. Cheers.

Nice i'm looking to do something similar with the same unit - but isn't all high amp draw accessories meant to run off your crank battery?

Get a good magnet, about 10ft of power wire with a cigarette lighter plug. Then you can mount your light where you need it.

Nice now you can mount a portable water rocket launcher on top of your Truck, just pressure rise the rocket then fire and reload.

I think you need to use a much larger wire like jumper cables for a 90 amp draw, not that skinny wire you are using.

Nice Chris with the light get a compression spring under side with a nylock nut and an ordinary nut as a double locker. Spring holds it tight when rotating. Is the compressor rubber mounted?👍🏼💯🇳🇿

the wires you used look like 10AWG possibly 12AWG, which is rated to 70A max, just be careful as that wire cable you're using is definitely not substantial for 90amps

The only mistake you made was buying a Kings unit. I wouldn’t bolt it down too tight…
