Props to Colin for putting Candlemass & Crowbar in there. #1 is “Revenge on Society” by Blood for Blood. 2. “Wake Up Dead”-Megadeth (honorable mention - “The Conjuring”) 3. “Domination”- Pantera. 4. “A Perpetual Need”- Crowbar. 5. “Hold My Own”- Biohazard. For Metallica, I’d go “Damage, Inc.” or “Dyer’s Eve” over Blackened, although that’s a great one. Also gotta mention “Suffer to Return Harder” by Terror. Omg, thank you for the 3 ninjas reference. One of my favorite movies as a kid. I almost got suspended for kicking a kid in the chest
At EXC's "last show" was the first time they did the stop for GSE. That many people yelling I AM! STRAIGHT EDGE! was amazing.
I love the Hatebreed songs but for me and hardest and scariest breakdown from teenager seeing them in the 90’s was “Smash Your Enemies” starts hard and ending is brutal.
Scourge of Iron all day. CC for life 🤘
contemporary pick: outnumbered by malevolence - two step into beatdown part classic pick: driven by suffering by hatebreed honourable mention/deep cut: beneath the wheel by dri - whole first minute, two step into caveman breakdown
honorable mention: Obituary - I Don't Care Guns as the drum beat. Hard.

also: Played with Triptykon at Maryland Deathfest, heaviest breakdown is in Altar of Deceit.
I'm glad Slipknot made this list. I barely listen to them anymore, but they laid the groundwork for my love of hardcore. Out of all those nu-metal bands from that era, they seemed to have the most hardcore/punk influence. When I go back and listen to their self-titled album and Iowa, I can feel exactly how my taste in hardcore was influenced by them.
Great lists. Kickback - Forever War & Pulling Teeth - Stonethrowers would both make mine.
WE NEED A SUPER CUT OF ALL THE MOUTH BREAKDOWNS
Stoked for sanguisugabogg! 💪
I'm actually shocked that when they were talking about Metallica and shit like that having proto-breakdown parts that neither of them mentioned Into The Void by Black Sabbath. That shit came out in 1971 and the riff change when the verse hits would straight up make me hospitalize people if I ever heard it covered at a show.
Keelhaul - Practicing. the whole song is breakdowns.
I’m glad you did favorites from each others bands ty :)
Man I just remembered one Melvins “Hag me” right at the 5:00 minute mark Melvins got hard riffs tbh

Mosh part of Melvins - Oven is top tier
For me it's probably 11th Hour by Lamb of God. Fucking brutal!
Absolute -comeback kid
That part in saddest day is goat tier
This is Andy from music was perfect 😂😂😂
I really wish this had timestamps.
When y’all started talking about death metal solos, I instantly thought “but Bill Steer” and Bo came through. 🎉
hi andy, big fan of music!
Man I love Scott Vogel
So my Justice Replaced by Revenge story. I went to a fest early in the day and rolled my ankle. Pain the rest of the night. Then later that night I walked in on another fest in Cleveland and Ringworm had just started to play Justice, I bolted to the stage and didn't feel any pain for that two minutes and seven seconds.
This is hands down my favorite episode.
This episode makes me feel warm inside
I'm just about to start watching this, but I certainly hope that Tower of Snakes by 18 Visions, and No Son Of Mine by Every Time I Die are amongst this list! I've seen far too many people get completely annihilated during those breakdowns

motionless in white at hellfest mannnn
this episode feels like beavis and butthead
Bo, you beautiful man. CARCASS' Embodiment, yes brother, YES. Amazing episode dudes, goosebumps and laughs. True killer indeed: AOW's Resist, Ringworm's Justice, and Crowbar's To Carry. For me the foulest breakdown from the last years: the end in 'Stepped On' from Zous. Some other filthy ones: Carcass 'Rupture In Purulence' intro played live, Venom Prison 'Devoid', Congress 'Lifting The Ban'.
The Saddest Day was my Converge choice!
HEAVEN IN HER FUCKING ARMS BRO
sick ass episode every guest should mention his fav breakdown from now on
Speaking of transitions from song to song the transition from Invert the Idols into Subjected to a Beating from Dying Fetus off Reign Supreme is metal’s best IMO🔥🔥🔥
You forgot Ready to Fight by NEGATIVE APPROACH.
Honorable mention. Maybe controversial. Misery By Gallows album Grey Britain.
