The First CSX train had only a single lead engine, so we knew there was a DPU and two mid-DPUs! Trains and rains - this reminds me to thank you for going out in the weather to bring excellent videos! Today you hit the jackpot with the DPUs. A fine day railfanning :)

A gloomy day weather wise but plenty of exciting freights to watch. While there were some large blocks of cars no unit trains. 1st NS had a NADX insulated boxcar which used to be very common in the 60s and 70s but now were almost extinct. The high number of HKRX hoppers accustomed to Street running on the Belpaire RR (BIP) The CSX train you focused on an orange and cream boxcar with an arrow which is a former East Camden & Highland car but also those three cars ahead and you will see brown box car LRS #2 with the g a t x mark in the corner. #3 NS had plenty of Steel carrying cars with the DPU pretty much at Full Tilt. The last train had Jawtooth multi tasking both shooting the video and talking to a potential subscriber. Trackside is the place to be
The NS mixed freight was fairly fast and had several sweet looking new hopper cars. Nice catch JT! 😊😊😊❤❤❤

Thank you for this railfanning video from Walton and Elsmere, Kentucky on 24 January 2024, Jaw Tooth! It was nice to see the DPUs on a number of these trains.
@JawTooth

Yes it does. It's curvy and single track main with passing sidings. I have filmed a couple of trains in Walton and then gone to LaGrange to get them again. One of them was a military train.
Nice video JT thanks. You're looking a lot better, thought you were gonna keel over in a few of the recent ones x . Do the train companies check for square wheels? Sounded like a few of the trucks had them on the second train..

Someone should write a song about Watching Trains Passing In the Rain.
Try racing the train to LaGrange one of these days.
I have an N scale model of one of those Dash 9 Locos on my layout, made by Kato. The Numberis 8936. I keep checking and hopeully one day it will appear in one of your videos (Unless, of course, It's been withdrawn from service). Great Video Brian. Keep 'em comin'. By the by, What did you have done to your Jaw? And is it getting better yet?
@JawTooth
5 ай бұрын
Very cool! NS used to run a lot of Dash 9 units on the line through my town before they vacated it and CCET took over. I had surgery that took 12 hours. I got tired of having tooth aches and crooked teeth so I had all 20 of them removed. They did what is called an All On 4. They put a plate in the top and a plate in the bottom with 24 teeth total. They used 4 screws on each plate that go into the jaw. I had no idea it would be so painful. I thought I could get it done and nobody notice but it really knocked me down. It's going to take 2 more months to heal. I kind of wish I hadn't done it. Maybe someday I will change my mind but I wish I would have just put up with the occasional tooth ache
@Morganstein-Railroad

@@JawTooth Wow! That's really radical, Brian. You've gone through quite a lot haven't you? Best wishes for a full recovery from this traumatic operartion. I must admit, I wouldn't do it but if it was causing you so much pain and discomfort, then once it heals properly, you'll appreciate what has been done. Hope all pain has been cured, mate - Alan.
@JawTooth
5 ай бұрын
@@Morganstein-Railroad The pain is off and on but getting better little by little. When I was in LaGrange, Kentucky filming Light Up LaGrange I had a tooth ache the whole day and that was the deciding factor. A couple years ago I was in Florida and had a tooth ache that swelled my face up. I dont know what is worse than a toothache. I would get one tooth fixed and then another would start hurting. I know it's because I eat Jelly Belly jelly beans all the time and drink Red Bull and Mountain Dew. Travelling and not taking care of the teeth caught up to me. At first I was just going to get a few implants but then I thought once that is done another tooth ache will come along. Its a done deal now but hopefully I can forget about them by summer

The train in the rain runs better on the plain.

Yes, actually I did in two videos. One video I haven't posted yet and I don't remember which one the other one was. I think it was one from Crescent Springs, Kentucky. I'm not 100 percent positive that it was posted yet but I think one of them was. I am working on 8 videos right now because I am going to Florida tomorrow and I am scheduling videos to come up while I am gone.
Maybe one day you could explain what all that clunk clunk clunk noise is ? Is it from flat spots on wheels ? How? Why?
@robertheinkel6225
5 ай бұрын
Definitely flat spots. If the flat spots are on both wheels of an axle, it is due to the brakes locking up or failure to release. Brakes are designed for loaded cars, so it can be easy to lock up an axle with an empty car. If the flat spot is on one wheel only, it is a defective wheel.
