Great video again MV! Excellent job on flying and vid! Nice graphics too! Of course, you had another nice crosswind. (10 - 13 kts.; out of EDRZ.) You must like those. ; ) I'm figuring you were giving quite a bit of right rudder on take off. It was also nice to see that you kept your landing gear extended until you were pretty much out of usable runway.

Thanks Cousin! The xwind during the landing in EDRZ was actually much stronger and perpendicular to the rwy. So this TO was a piece of cake ;-) In single engine operations we do not have V2 for obvious reasons. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to retract the gear as soon as the aircraft leaves the ground. Instead you still have the chance to use the remaining runway in case of an engine failure.

Very nice videos. Question, you are using the Garmin Pilot app. Can't you load the whole flight plan plus approach etc. into the Garmin GTN via flightstream ?

Thanks. Yes, I'm using GP on the iPad. But, it's connected via Bluetooth to the transponder and receives data from it. I don't have the flightstream SD card in the GTN, so I cannot push flightplans to and from the GTN. In my opinion, that's just not worth 1000$.

At 21:40, when you say "Needle is coming in", does your localizer indicator actually show a green GPS indication? Would that mean that you are flying with GPS data instead of ILS data?

Good observation. At that point the indicator was indeed showing GPS data (the GTN has the full horizontal routing of the approach in the database and can display the way from the initial approach fix onto the ILS itself). However, the GTN switches over from GPS to NAV mode automatically upon reaching the FAF. This is not shown in the video, because the battery of my cockpitcam died a few minutes before landing.

Like your videos and the old Mooney but please turn the camera around and let us see your face every once and a while. Or are you camera shy?

I only got two cameras and want to give you the important angles ;-) Two weeks ago I took some footage from a flight in Tasmania. We had four cams for that (including one PIC/SIC cam). The video is coming soon.

Für IFR finde ich die app super. zum standard Paket für 105€ benötigst du dann noch das Premium Upgrade für 50€. Darin sind alle approach charts von Eurocontrol enthalen. Die Anflüge lassen sich dann auch per overlay auf der Map darstellen und sind zuden georeferenced.

MikeVictorAviation Danke, habe mir das mal angesehen, sieht wirklich toll aus. Nur Autorouting funktioniert überhaupt nicht, die simpelsten Routen kennt die App offenbar nicht, oder benötigt man dafür die extra zu kaufenden Low IFR Karten? Als Provider habe ich Eurocontrol eingestellt.

Die IFR Routing Funktion kommt von autorouter.aero. Vielleicht schaust du dir mal die Plattform im Browser zuerst an. Die "Bedienung" aus der App heraus ist ewas limitiert, man kommt aber i.d.R. zum gleichen Ergebnis. Wenn du sags es funktioniert gar nicht, dann liegt ein Fehler vor. Bei mir funktioniert es einwandfrei. Hast du schon mal IFR Flugpläne erstellt? In Europa ist es gar nicht so einfach etwas "zusammenzubasteln" das dann von Eurocontrol akzeptiert wird. Insofern sehen die Ergebnisse des Autorouters nicht immer hübsch aus (und können im Einzelfall manuell auch noch verbessert werden), sind aber oft doch die einzige Möglichkeit einen FPL validiert zu bekommen. Extra Karten (von der DFS bspw.) brauchst du keine. Du kannst die Map Darstellung von VFR zu IFR umstellen uns siehst dann alle airways und nav-Punkte.

MikeVictorAviation OK, danke, Autorouter kenne ich, und ich habe natürlich auch schon Flugpläne aufgegeben, bisher über DFS, aber in der App ist Eurocontrol als Provider eingestellt, ich kann auch trotz stundenlangen Studiums des Garmin Manuals nicht finden, wie ich evtl. Autorouter eintragen kann. Vielleicht werden die Provider auch standortbezogen ausgewählt. Bei Klick auf autoroute sucht er, gibt auch Meldungen bis zu Validate aus, aber dann kommt unable to find a Route. Ich werde irgendwann auf den Trichter kommen oder mal Garmin anschreiben. Vielleicht hat es auch einen ganz anderen simplen Grund, dass es nicht geht. Wie dem auch sei, besten Dank für deine Mühe und weiterhin spannende Flüge. Beste Grüße, Klaus

Du musst Eurocontrol einstellen, um IFR zu filen. Anders geht es nicht. Dann füllst du die Maske aus (departure, arrival, date, time, altitude, powersetting, ...) und klickst dann auf "autoroute". Dann rödelt die App ein bisschen und macht dir i.d.R. ein paar Vorschläge: IFR, Y, Z, VFR von denen du dann eine auswählst und weiterbearbeitest.
