The turnbuckle idea is fantastic. I always hated how the chains drooped and didn't hold the cylinder tight. That's the same HF cart I use. I also mounted my Hypertherm 380 on the bottom shelf and my Miller 211 on the top shelf. I added receptacles for both machines and a quick connect air hose adapter so I only need to run one power cable and one air hose from the wall to the cart and everything else is permanently installed on the cart. I don't have to mess with plugging and unplugging my power cords or struggling to get behind the plasma cutter to get to the air line input. My caster bearings are starting to fail after about 10 years so I'm adding 10" Harborfreight back wheels and 4" swivel casters to the front to make it roll much easier over debris and slag in garage.

I did a few mods to these carts and the best upgrades for me was 10" wheels in the rear with rubber 5" casters up front. I roll this cart all over a 40x46 shop, and man does it roll great now. Other upgrade was a handle on the front, made it a bit nicer.

Those sound like some nice mods! I may put a handle on mine in the future, that sounds like another good idea. Luckily I don't move my cart around much but when I do it would be nice to have a handle.

Hands down; a GREAT MOD! My only offer (and not to take anything away because I'm going to be doing a version of what YOU presented here!!) is to have considered some strong, thick washers on each some of the turnbuckles to reinforce the already thin material. You're end product however was TIGHT! Great job, loved the ingenuity.

I love this video, I also did some mods, to address the same issues. I used high density foam, that I shaped for the bottle, ditched the chain and used ratchet tie downs that I modded to fit. I also used softer rubber casters, front and back, and widened the caster width in the front, by using angle iron. This makes it a lot more stable. Good stuff bud!

Best idea I’ve seen to stabilize a wobbly tank. As usual, yet another elegant solution. Really looking forward to your review on the Plasma Cutter. Thanks Bruce!

I am a tool and diemaker by trade... first time I have seen 2 chains when 1 is required. I love the modification but 2 chains is excessive... but hey to each their own. Nice work. And I have a harbor freight tig /mug welder they bought for the plant if you can believe it. Anyway I don’t use the mug weld feature but the tig is air cooled and works just fine ... even on tool steel, of course it still has to be brought up to proper temperature but the welder has no problem working with steel that is min. 400 degrees and max if 1000 degrees ... only thing I have noticed is there is a working limit where you need to take time and allow the torch head to cool.. not much time maybe 2 mins but that’s about it.

I really enjoyed the quality modifications you made to this welding cart. I just bought mine today, but I have a flux core welder and don’t need a tank, however I saw a few videos where people put wood or cardboard to tighten the tank. Your braces that you fabricated, along with the turnbuckles, gives you the ability to really secure the tank. Nice work!

They are great carts for the money IMO. I used mine for a few years with a flux core machine and it worked great!

I have my cart dialed in with my Lincoln flux core welder on top, plasma cutter on the bottom and consumables and air tools on the middle shelf. I couldn’t be happier.

When I built my cart for my mig welder back over twnetly years ago I made it around the bottle, as you did. The only problem is every bottle I get has different dimensions. Some are taller and slimmer than others. Presently the bottle is slightly tilted. Not saying anything bad, just giving you a heads up. Nice video, thanks.

Thanks for the heads up Mark! That's one of the reasons I bolted the new parts instead of welding them to the cart. If I need to make changes in the future, it's as simple as removing a couple small bolts. I'm hoping I won't have to do that but you never know. :)

Great video. If I have one regret, it’s buying the $39 welding cart. It was fine for the Titanium 125 I returned. It’s almost dangerous with my Klutch MP200iDV. I’m digging the new sound effects! 😂

Definitely maxing that 100lb weight capacity …probably exceeding by 10 - 15 %. I had one of those….got rid of that POS as soon as I put a Lincoln Pro Mig 180 in it…and realized it could not handle a full 150 cf Argon tank. I figured if it really did not have provisions to add a descent size tank then perhaps I should not be doing same. Just my apprehension with HF stuff. Spent a little more for a Vevor $50 on EBay test is supposedly rates to 400lb. Not really going to get close to that but at least I won’t cringe.

I was waiting for you to use a CNC plasma table for this….. So a 👍 for repurposing metal….but a plasma cutter when your trying to make use of that POS HF welding cart. Not sure that cart is rated for the weight of that 120 CF tank….

My only concern is that the weight of the cylinder is moved in relation to the wheels making it easier for the cart to tip. The weight of the welder and plasma machine should be enough to keep that from happening I think.

Good point but I wasn't able to push the tank all the way forward even before the mods. The tank would hit the back of the welder or gas inlet hose on the back of the welder.

How long did it take to get your welders in for the time you ordered it just curious cuz I have not heard anything back from this company I've tried calling them emailing them I've done everything in my power to get an answer out of them and still have not got an answer

It took about a week for mine. I think the shipping comes out of Ontario California so it could be different for you depending on where in the country you live. I'm in Colorado so that's a fairly short journey from California. Did you get a tracking # or an order confirmation in your email yet? You could drop them an email with your order # and ask them what the status of your order is . They have always answered my emails by the next day. (excluding weekends) There is a "contact us" link at the bottom of the YesWelder home page. Click on that and give them the information they request and you should have an answer by the next day. Have you tried the "contact us" link before?

They sell out quick with their sales. My mig took about 3 weeks and my AC/DC didn’t ship yet. They responded to my email though and apologized for the delay. They were expecting the next round of orders to go out by the end of the month. My email responses are usually in he middle of the night for me on the East coast.

What size gas bottle is that?

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I want to take the lazy way out, "weld it", if you want to make it stupid simple and loose the ability to adapt. I would like to further the ability to adapt (by using bolts) that comes my way and manage the part of, "customizable" as possible. New machines, smaller, or larger tanks. Keep it stupid simple, most of the time means more work in the long run. No need to cut welds, just get'er done! I like it!
