Harbor Freight tool cart modifications and accessories

Ойын-сауық

In this video, Evan the Cameraman and I go over some of the modifications and accessories we’ve added to our tool cart over the course of the past two years. All of the upgrades that we did were easy to do, and cost-effective. I hope you enjoy!

Great video. I really like the way you included your son. My dad died when I was 12 and although it was a short time we had together I can still remember the things he taught me and it still puts a smile on my face.

I just gotta say seeing the father-son dynamic is amazing and heartwarming. Your son will remember those times fondly and anytime he picks up a tool in the future he will always think of those days spent wrenching with the ol'man. Keep at it!

That is a very sharp young man you have there. Every minute of your life spent with your son is worth more than any tool or bank account. Being a dad is crazy? You start by getting up 3 or 4 times a night for bottles and changing diapers, move on to things like getting up at 5 AM for a few minutes of peace and a quiet cup of coffee before shifting into drill Sargent mode at 6 to keep everyone on time for the bus. Next is helping with homework at night, driving as a taxi service, attending their games and events, last minute trips to the store at 8PM when you hear the words "Dad, I need that for a project due tomorrow or I will get a bad grade.....? You also become a driving instructor, loan officer/shark, psychiatrist and feel like a serf when the first home equity loan payment is due and you spent the last couple of days packing and moving your new student into a dorm (following everyone's instructions and orders rather than giving them). The entire time this 18 year period is transpiring you keep thinking "I can hardly wait until this slows down or is over" or "Man it would be GREAT to sleep in on just ONE Saturday AM!" Don't worry, you will get your wishes and then some. It hit me like a brick wall doing 100MPH on a skateboard (Yes, the same one you would fall over and complain about in the garage 10 years ago) After dropping off my new investment I had the longest solo 90 minute ride of my life. I pulled into a rest area and started to cry. The time slot I was given was over? No rewind button to hit or go back and start over again. The strangest things will cause a relapse and the thought(s) to start running through your mind? It is both a happy and depressing process at the same time. Being a dad is great and all you can do is try your best to be a good one. Parenting is 50% science and 50% dark magic and knowing which one is happening at any given moment is next to impossible. For what it's worth, I think you are doing a great job? Just remember, when you blink once he'll be asking for the keys to borrow your Mustang. Blink again and it is graduation day, then wedding day and if you are really lucky? you'll blink and have a lot of wrinkles with this little guy sitting on your lap that looks an awfull lot like you and your son? Then you can do all the things that you missed the first time around? Better yet, try and fill in any blanks your son may miss? That is what my grandpa did and hopefully, you can do? Just be really careful what you wish for? P.S-I have 3 children with only 1 to 1 1/2 year separation between them and the last one flew the coop 12 years ago. Same process with each one. Good luck!

When I was young I use to hangout with my dad when he wasn't working. Now we live together in my house an i have a big garage in the backyard. I became paralyzed from my waist down from a rare cancer 27 years ago .I been in remission for all thos time. Anyway I have top an middle craftsman boxes filled with craftsman tools an another craftsman box set an a snapon box that is on top of my bench. My dad has alot of tools also he is retired from the shipyard he was an outside machinist. Last year we both got the 5 drawer tool cart from harbor freight tools and I got the Pittsburgh sockets in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 inch sockets shallow and deep metric an sae an the ratchets and extensions an wrenches in metric an sae an stubby wrenches and some ratchet wrenches all in Pittsburgh. I got the socket trays too. I been buying tools for my cart since last year an hopefully by this summer it will be full. I brought other tools I haven't said. It's like an addiction when I see tools. Great video! Cadillac idea on the trays from Target. I have some Ernst trays in my main box. Oh have a side box I am going to add to mine. One thing on that, HF says the 5 drawer tool cart is 22” deep, it’s not. I will mount mine flush to the front of the cart and maybe add some homemade shelves or better yet some pegboard to fill in the overhang on the backside of the cart. You guys make a great team. Nice video. Just a heads up. You can buy wheels that both swivel and lock. So you would unlock it when you need the 360 capabilities and when you need it to go straight you simply lock it. Buy 2 swivel ones with the lock and 2 swivel without the lock. In your case You would only have to buy 2 with the lock. This is what I did.

I believe all drawers are 16 3/4 front to back. Their depth and width is what differs. Found this on Garage Journal...hope it helps. Drawer #1: 24-3/8" wide, 4-1/2" deep, 16-3/4" front to back. Drawer #2: 24-3/8" wide, 2-3/4" deep, 16-3/4" front to back. Drawer #3: 11-5/16" wide, 4-1/2" deep, 16-3/4" front to back. Drawer #4: 11-5/16" wide, 2" deep, 16-3/4" front to back. Drawer #5 11-5/16" wide, 2" deep, 16-3/4" front to back. www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68794
