Harbor Freight long term review of Haul Master Cargo Basket and Universal Crossbars!

This is my long term review of the Harbor Freight Haul-Master 150 Lb. Capacity Roof-Mounted Steel Cargo Carrier - Item 64101, and the HAUL-MASTER Universal Roof Cross Bars Set of 2 - Item 64877.
We live in the PNW and keep them attached to our car. They have been on all winter and driven through lots of rain, sleet, and some snow. The car is garage kept at night so keep that in mind. Links below (non-affiliate)

Tip that MAY reduce wind noise. On your front crossbar wrap 550 paracord around it with a few inches between each cord and tie at each end. That will break up the wind. Sounds crazy, but pretty much eliminated the wind noise on mine. May have to do on both front and back.

If you're not from Texas, the Harbormaster logo on the front face peels off....

Was there a physical reason you had to cut the bars or was it just more of the look?

More just the look, and thinking I’d probably hit my head on it or something. Wanted to keep them close as possible.

Did you paint it with Rust-Oleum?

I had some industrial black gloss paint in my work truck that I used. I don’t remember the name at this moment.
