    I was sceptical about buying one of these after seeing some bad reviews but it has worked fine for hauling a 230 lb Kaw KX250. I use two straps on the handlebars to the carrier and two on either end of the carrier to inside the truck bed. The carrier does not sway or move at all.I tested it on thirty miles of twisty mountain roads and it worked great.

    If you were not using the blue anchor to the rollbar, would the handlebar take out the rear glass or would it be OK and not hit the back glass? I have a Suburban with Tailgate and window above and am concerned about the handle bar end poking out the glass

    Thanks for the video that's the video I've been looking for because I have a Jeep but I have 35 inch tires and I'm going to go and get a extension so I don't have that problem with the tire and the footpeg Harbor Freight sells them the extensions for the receiver

    Did the extension work out? My CRF450RL wouldn't stand straight up and the peg hit the wheel and tire even folded up on my '19 JLUR with stock 33" tires. I already have an 8" hitch extension for my regular pedal gravel bike that I'll probably try. I suppose I could put the spare inside the Jeep or leave it (have an air compressor and tire repair kit). I mean if I get a flat I can't repair, my bike is a dual sport and street legal/licenced so I could ride it out of about anywhere to get assistance but I'd rather not especially if I take the bike on a big trip like I would like to do.

    IMPORTANT! See those tie-down brackets at 0:51? Closest to the hitch? Those are upside-down. If the bolt loosens and that thing flips up, you'll lose tension on your straps. Flip those over and bolt them back down! Known issue on these things :)

  • @chuckiswhite15

    @chuckiswhite15

    3 жыл бұрын

    Is that actually an issue? This is the way the tie-down brackets come installed already. I don't have the carrier anymore. I bought a truck and ended up selling the carrier about a month ago.

    @@Cardsone1 I bought the carrier and tested out loading my CRF450RL on the carrier mounted to my Wrangler JLUR. Without an extension my CRF would not stand perfectly straight up. Even with the right peg folded up it was still hitting the rim and tire of my stock 33" spare tire. I have an 8" hitch extension but haven't tried using it with the motorcyle carrier yet. Was hoping I wouldn't have to use the extension as I'd rather not stick the weight out even further from the Jeep. My bike weighs around 290 lbs, plus about the 40 for the carrier and 10ish for the extension puts me pretty close to the 350lbs tongue weight limit. Another option would be to take the spare off and either put it inside or risk going without a spare, but I don't really want to do that. If you have been using it with an extension for a year or so, that makes me feel a little better for going that method myself. My hitch extension also came with an anti-rattle clamp.

    @@Cardsone1 I'll still probably use mine with the hitch extension and just see how it goes. Since my 450 is a dual sport and it is licenced and I have full coverage insurance on it. If the carrier breaks with the bike on it, I'll just turn the damages in to insurance. Sorry to hear about your Jeep. I've only had mine for about a month. I've only had two Mustang GTs which were my daily drivers (along with various motorcycles) since '97, so far the Jeep has been great (exept passing people on the highway, its so slow there)

    Can someone make a video of how someone 5’5 is supposed to get the bike off of the damn carrier by themselves. I dig the carrier. It’s nice and secure but since the wheels sit so deep in the carrier it was pretty difficult to get the bike off going either forward or back. I put it in neutral and tried to rock it forward and back but I ended up needing a second person. We lifted up the real wheel so we could still the locking rod into the carrier for the wheel to sit on top of. Then we rocked it back as hard as we could to get it off. If there’s trick besides getting taller and going to the gym let me know I’m hoping to become efficient doing everything alone in case no one is around to help me out thanks.

    i found it to be difficult sometimes as well. i had to rock it pretty good to get the rear tire out of the position. but gave me comfort knowing it was secure. pros and cons with it. you could probably put something to take up the space between the wheel and the carrier, maybe a towel or some cloth that would wedge it a little higher in the carrier so it doesn't sit as deep? not sure.

    Geez guys it has a motor after all…. Turn it on and put it into gear and feather the clutch no gas. Other wise your just pushing a rock on 2 wheels up and down a ramp. Just drive it forward off the carrier. At least just enough to get it out of the hole then if your to scared hold the clutch or turn the motor off. If your trying to back it down off the carrier and are stuck you can rock the bike forward and back forward and back until you build momentum in the suspension and then as you go back give it a good tug, should roll off

    I'm 6'8 ,and it can be difficult for me to pop the wheel out, it works alone but a "holder "person is a big help to load and unload from...but the price and size of this are nice ,mine was like 115$ or about that on sale. I did just watch a video on a "jack mx rack, or Jack rack carrier" . I didn't see the cost, but it has a cradle that sits under the skid plate then you jack it up off the ground after putting some bolts through the pegs into the plate. Add a pin incase the jack fales ,and you're off driving. Then no suspension load on the bike.

    He's got a Jeep with limited tongue weight of 350lbs tops. His Honda CRF probably weighs between 225 and 260 lbs, I have a dual sport version that weighs 290lbs and my old 2 stroke CR250 weighed around 225 so I'm guessing on his bike's weight. Most of the fully steel carriers I looked at are around 100 lbs so that would put him right around the weight limit for his Class 2 hitch. Would it still carry it? Most likley, but any accident and the insurance carriers might bulk at paying if they can site an overloaded hitch. That carrier did switch to a steel plate under the aluminum with newer models.
