Thanks Kev, I’ve had this buffer for a while, also have a commercial Dayton. I use this HF buffer 9 out of 10 times. It’s much smaller and plenty strong! Enjoy your videos.

From what little buffing I've done, you don't need a lot of pressure. Just make sure you have enough rouge on the wheel. We have some large scotchbrite wheels we use at work that are awesome for rough polishing before hitting them with the buffing wheel too. Looks like this will serve you well. Thanks for the review. I might consider one of these for myself.

What is your opinion on the $5 buffing pads you bought in addition to what it came with? I can't get the darn things to work on my bench grinder. I think they made the center hole (arbor?) too big, its like 3/4" and I can't get the washers to hug it tight enough to prevent them from working properly. Just wondering if you've had the same issue and if you've found a solution. Thanks!

You need to make a adapter to fit the shaft to the buffer pad, I used a PVC pipe cut to be less than the thickness of the pad and inserted a pipe fitting into the pipe and cut it off flush with the pipe. The hole in the fitting fit over the motor shaft , the pipe fit snugly into the buffing pad, by combining the two pieces they made up difference between the shaft diameter and buffing pad hole. The pipe is about 7/16" long. My adapter centered the pad and it runs smoothly.

I bought this hoping it would double for a buffer but also occasionally throw on a wire wheel for crusty bolts or a 6in grind wheel to sharpen up the lawn mower once a year. I noticed the label though saying not to use grind wheels or any other type without giving a reason. Is this simply because it doesn't have guards or you think the buffer will break? Only using the buffers for now.

  • @Robinson-Homestead

This Harbor Freight buffer is made by Central Machinery and comes from 2 different factories in China so it has 2 part numbers, but it's basically identical besides for the cosmetics. The harbor freight SKUs (part #'s) are either 61557 or 94393.
