Harbor Freight $100 Sand Blast Cabinet Setup | Lighting Dust Collection System
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Picked up a new tool from Harbor Freight, benchtop sand blasting cabinet for $104 plus tax. Its a great bargain but needs a few minor tweaks to get fully functional and last. I added new LED light strips, resealed the joints and seams, and added a cyclone dust collection system for the vacuum.

Best video out there before talking about one of these cabinets. I like how you detail the explained the cyclone dust collection system. I’m going to get myself one of those for mine that I bought today. Thank you for your video.
Nice upgrade for your garage 👍🏽
Well Done !!!
Looks good. Thanks for the vid. Got my cabinet going for the first time today.

After using it for a while, I want to add a vibrator underneath to knock some of the media free when using it. I saw a guy add one with a big switch inside.

Not yet. Haven’t had time to do much lately. Once I setup my new garage, I’ll get around to it.
well done helpful
Why didn't I see this first? Ended up buying the Dust Deputy kit. Same problem you had, I will find myself at Home Depot buying fittings to get this damn thing to fit snug.
Try aluminum oxide it's much better for what you are blasting. Thanks for the helpful tips
Loved the video. I haven't been able to find the dust collector that you used. Would you share a link of provide the actual name. Thank you!

Check my links, I might have updated to the more name brand version. I used the generic china one but it’s a copy of the Dust Deputy.
Theoretically, if u wanted to blast something bigger, can't u take the cabinet outside and stick the part halfaway out? Or set the part on a table if the hose reaches?

the cabinet is for keeping everything contained, you can actually take the gun out and blast with the hose in a bucket of media. You will just get stuff everywhere. They sell small gravity hopper guns at HF for like $20.
Hello! Great video, thank you! Question 4 U, what did you mean “TESTING WITH NO DUST VACUUM”? I thought that is what your little dust buddy was?

Idk, testing using a vacuum to remove dust??
Hey bud what connector did you use for the light strip for the outlet

I just used a external hard drive power supply (12V, 1.5A) with some spade connectors.
I like the little bottle instead of the 5g bucket

@Binh Nguyen-Tuner with Kids I literally just finished putting everything together. I have the one w the legs. I did the meter valve mod, sealed everything [maybe a little too much 🤠], harbor freight 6gal vac, and HF dust collector w the 5g bucket. When I get time I'm going to try and use plastic pipe and find a small container. I'm using mine for cerakote prep.
How long can you blast at one time? What size CFM compressor do you have?
@TunerwithKids

I have a 60G IR T30 now that will run for hours. So I can blast continuously. My old 30G craftsman couldn't keep up and tripped breakers after a few cycles.
what size compressor are you using ?

Used to have a 30G but not big enough. Now I got a 60G which works.
what air compressor are you using to sandblast?
@TunerwithKids

That 2003 Craftsman 30 gallon that I did the troubleshooting video the other day on. Not very reliable and I can only blast 5 minutes at a time, then wait 10 minutes to recharge/trip breakers 3 times to get it back to 130 or 140 psi.

@@TunerwithKids mines is around there and I was worried the cfm was too low. Harbor freights makes blasting pots that are suppose to help make it all easier. But I dont wanna give you another thing to bug😂

My plan was too get an upgraded compressor, maybe a used pro 240V one. But right now nothing to ok justify the cost. All my impact and tools are battery now. Only thing compressor is good for now is paint and blasting both of which I dont do often.
Late comment. I’m sure you now know HF has labeled the intake and exhaust incorrectly. The exhaust is in the REAR.

It probably doesn’t matter as long as there is somewhere to draw air from. The back has that blocking plate so it’s hard to get a tight pipe into it. For the side I recently added a PVC elbow pipe to draw air from the top of the cabinet. The helps reduce pulling too much media into the dust collector.

@@TunerwithKids that “blocking plate” is the baffle to prevent large solids from being exhausted. It’s placed low to keep dust from clouding up the blaster. That why the side intake does not have a baffle. The air flow is just at or below the working table on purpose.

great little tool if you have room and a good enough compressor. Mine isn't reliable enough and a pain due to tripping breakers.

Do you need a vacuum? You never said how it worked out without…. Can you just put a filter over that hole to keep the dust inside?
@TunerwithKids
2 жыл бұрын
The vacuum helps remove all the dust and debris and also to see. The dust turbine keeps dust out the vac.
Great job, only one critical thing; please consider using a RESPIRATOR around glass bead media! Look it up; you're in for a rude awakening on your health if you don't take the precautions...
$189 now. Thanks Joe Biden.
