Harbor Freight $100 Sand Blast Cabinet Setup | Lighting Dust Collection System

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Picked up a new tool from Harbor Freight, benchtop sand blasting cabinet for $104 plus tax. Its a great bargain but needs a few minor tweaks to get fully functional and last. I added new LED light strips, resealed the joints and seams, and added a cyclone dust collection system for the vacuum.

    Theoretically, if u wanted to blast something bigger, can't u take the cabinet outside and stick the part halfaway out? Or set the part on a table if the hose reaches?

  • @TunerwithKids

    the cabinet is for keeping everything contained, you can actually take the gun out and blast with the hose in a bucket of media. You will just get stuff everywhere. They sell small gravity hopper guns at HF for like $20.

    @Binh Nguyen-Tuner with Kids I literally just finished putting everything together. I have the one w the legs. I did the meter valve mod, sealed everything [maybe a little too much 🤠], harbor freight 6gal vac, and HF dust collector w the 5g bucket. When I get time I'm going to try and use plastic pipe and find a small container. I'm using mine for cerakote prep.

    I have a 60G IR T30 now that will run for hours. So I can blast continuously. My old 30G craftsman couldn't keep up and tripped breakers after a few cycles.

    That 2003 Craftsman 30 gallon that I did the troubleshooting video the other day on. Not very reliable and I can only blast 5 minutes at a time, then wait 10 minutes to recharge/trip breakers 3 times to get it back to 130 or 140 psi.

    My plan was too get an upgraded compressor, maybe a used pro 240V one. But right now nothing to ok justify the cost. All my impact and tools are battery now. Only thing compressor is good for now is paint and blasting both of which I dont do often.

    Late comment. I’m sure you now know HF has labeled the intake and exhaust incorrectly. The exhaust is in the REAR.

  • @TunerwithKids

    It probably doesn’t matter as long as there is somewhere to draw air from. The back has that blocking plate so it’s hard to get a tight pipe into it. For the side I recently added a PVC elbow pipe to draw air from the top of the cabinet. The helps reduce pulling too much media into the dust collector.

  • @jj-zy6gc

    @jj-zy6gc

    Жыл бұрын

    @@TunerwithKids that “blocking plate” is the baffle to prevent large solids from being exhausted. It’s placed low to keep dust from clouding up the blaster. That why the side intake does not have a baffle. The air flow is just at or below the working table on purpose.
