    These are beautiful, and top quality! I'm not much of a bag maker (yet), but I really want to try this one--I need to modify a pattern to make an Arietty (anime) bag. Your style is so relaxing too. I'm just enjoying the tutorial and learning as you sew along! I never knew about Loxx fasteners before (I'm very impressed), nor waxed twill. There really is a lot packed into these videos! Thank you so much! Caroline from Napa

    Al Frances over on Etsy has a good selection of waxed canvases. You can also check over at House of Klum, they have nice waxed canvas. Fair warning, neither are inexpensive. Al Frances is cheaper, but imo, the Klum House is nicer. I made the Pepin Tote with waxed canvas for a pal to carry her crochet projects and she loves it. Waxed canvas is nice to work with, worth the cost.

    Hi Kip, the only place I've personally shopped for waxed twill (again, I wouldn't recommend waxed CANVAS for this bag) is AL Frances Textiles on Etsy. She has a selection of 1/2 yard cuts (which is plenty to make multiple bags from!). Here's a link to the waxed TWILL section of her shop: www.etsy.com/shop/ALFrancesTextiles?section_id=26040098

    I’ve never heard of fabric referred to in ounces before. I have tons of fabric - canvases, cottons, vinyls that I’ve made bags out of before, but I’m wondering if anyone can help me to decide which fabrics i already have that are close to 8 ounces? Is there a trick to figuring this out because I’ve never seen it on the labels

  • @noodleheadsewingpatterns

    @noodleheadsewingpatterns

    8 ай бұрын

    Hi! Yes, it's a bit tricky to figure out without the bolt information. Online listings typically show the weight, but not always. When manufacturers calculate fabric weight, they take a standard-sized piece of material (often a square yard) and weigh that on a scale. This will then yield the grams per square yard or ounces per yard, of the fabric. So if you have a scale, that would be the most accurate way to figure out what you have in your stash. Most canvases should fall within the range needed for this pattern. Hope that helps!
