Due to the personal preference of musical families to promote a family member Rahat enjoys the status that he does otherwise he bears no resemblance with his ancestors. People like Santu Khan and various others are the deserving ones. You have correctly pointed this out.

I am not a follower of Rahat ..its just that it worked out for him..ie ..fame, status, recognition and ..🤔wealth.ASIF as stated is from the SANTU KHAN family and on the other hand resembles NUSRAT and his style of singing is very close to NUSRAT. Being from Southern hemisphere , i do follow Sama.

Everyone downgrading these guys for copying UNFAK. It takes a lot of guts and talent to even try to copy Ustad g. So appreciate what these guys are trying to do, it takes time to get things done. I think Asif santoo is very good at what he is doing.

We can relate this because Tabla nawaz is Ustad Dildaar hussain. Anybody will be only close to him if he get anyone of Nusrat Farukh or Dildaar.

The first qawwali i had ever seen, was with Dildar Hussain Kahn. Unbelievable. Akhiyan udeek diyan, with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The crowd in the video was just enraptured by the music, which has a real powerful effect on the musicians, like a feedback loop. I haven't seen a more lively crowd in a qawwali video since. Not for lack of talent though... *this was probably at the height of Nusrat Kahn Sahib's popularity (in the east). Yet it would be another 10 or so years before he really became popular here in America and the UK, through Peter Gabriel bringing him to his fans, and then it just exploded!* Feel so lucky to have been open minded enough to listen to any quality music, from anywhere back then. Style of Nusrat Sahab. I watched old videos of Ustad Manzoor Hussain Santoo Khan and they had a different and unique style. I hope these young members take care of the tradition of their own family instead of trying to emulate the inimitable NFAK; something many unfortunately do, leaving their own tradition to wither away never to be heard again. While it is good that qawwali is alive, for it to continue to thrive we need a landscape of musical diversity and richness, not a desert of NFAK clones.

@@Murshad_NFAK it neither started with ustad Nusrat nor it ends with Ustaad g.. there were, there are and there will be a lot of good qawwals in each era and each one has its own flavour. Some names are Farid ayaz and abu muhammad.. sabri brothers etc. Yes ustaad Nusrat sahib can be your personal choice. But admit it or notqawwali is alive and will remain forever
