AMAZING!!!! Freddy continues to be my all time favorite horror movie villian. Robert Englund gives this character such life. I watched this great Wes Craven interview where he explains how originally he was going to be casting a much older man for the role of Freddy. Like 70 years old. Freddy was a character Wes created after being scared to death by a very old creepy man when he was just a small child like 5 or 6. In the interview he talks about how when he was home as a small boy with his mother and was looking out his window this man was walking down the street and stopped right in front of his house and was staring straight at him. The man then started walking to his front door and tried coming into his house but the door was locked, Wes then ran to his mother crying but when the mother came to check the creepy man was already gone. This is where Wes Craven created Freddy Krueger from. So when casting A Nightmare on Elm Street he kept casting these very old men like the one that scared him as a child but he realized it just didnt work for what he envisioned for the film. And he said after he saw Robert Englund audition he knew he just had to be Freddy. I believe Robert was 34 at the time of the first Nightmare. Pretty awesome story. I love all the Freddy films. I got the pleasure of meeting Mr. Englund at a couple of conventions as well. He is really funny and nice to talk to in person. Great guy.

Barry Roskin Blake That is so awesome you were in high school when dream warriors came out. A Nightmare on elm street, Dream Warriors, and Dream Master are my top favorite freddy films. I always wished I was a teenager or in my early 20's in the 80s opposed to being born in 83' The 80s is my favorite decade, music, movies, everything was so well made during this era. What a pleasure it must of been interviewing him. I must of watched these interviews with him you posted 6 times already lol job well done :)

+yummyjen Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are tons of terribly made, low quality movies from made in the '80s! And although I love lots of music from the '80s, that decade also produced some of the cheesiest shit ever recorded. It seems to me you are seeing that time period through a sugar coated lense. Just saying...

I'm not bitter shnookums, and I'm glad I'm not bursting your bubble either, because if you really can't laugh at or acknowledge the spandexed, neon colored, plastic cheesiness that decade is known for, I would feel really sorry for you. By the way, I never said I didn't like the '80s. There are tons of movies and music that I adore from that time period, but saying "everything was so well made" during that era is simply laughable.

Well, Jason is still number 1 on my favourite horror-franchise list. Freddy is number 2, Michael is number 3, and Chucky is number 4.

Freddy then Michael. I used to know the producer of the Halloween series before he tragically died. After that they took Michael Meyers in a very different direction.

He is also such a great guy to work with. He stayed after the interview for my reversals. As a actor I can tell you that that is a true pro. I love this guy. My interviews with him go back almost thirty years. I am so proud and glad you took the time to enjoy watching it.

Actually, I did not tape this off TV. I was lucky enough to be the one doing the interview. This is Barry Roskin Blake of the old show "Inside Entertainment" and I have been so fortunate to have interviewed Robert three times in the last twenty years. The first one being at his home up in the hills. It's not the greatest video quality but sort of fun. If any of you want, I can post it in the next couple of days. Thanks for watching and continuing to be his fan.
