The Jazz Ambassadors bring you their version of "Happy Faces," written by Sonny Stitt and arranged by Quincy Jones. Featuring Staff Sergeant Mike Chamberlin on baritone saxophone, Sergeant First Class Jonathan Epley on guitar and Master Sergeant Bradford Danho on tenor saxophone.
"Happy Faces" originally appeared on the album "Birth of a Band!" in 1959.

    does the US army field band only allow people above staff sergeant?

    Just like how the conductor slot is a LTC instead of a warrant officer, I would guess that most of the enlisted slots are for SSG and up. That way, you theoretically get your best players in the band that represents you to the world. Besides the fact that I don't see any junior enlisted folks in the video. 😊

    In a way, yes. If you pass the audition for the MOS (42S) you are awarded the rank of SSG. If you are already in the army and pass the audition you are promoted up to SSG.
