I noticed that when they live alone, they get used to people really quickly. When there are two or three degus in a cage, they tend to ignore humans and don’t let anyone touch them.

How have I not seen these video before? I thought I'd seen all the KZread degus. This guy is the best out of all of them. Mine are far from relaxed. My eldest is happy with me but my two newest (rescue) degus are extremely timid.

the arm thing is no worry. I've seen my boys often holding onto things by 1 arm holding their own body weight. looks no where near that amount of pressure he's being groomed and if it bothered the degu he would let out a short squeak to say oww they often chew at eachothers ears and arms lol

That's a scared degu...not a happy one. And the way you flipped them over with lower back unsupported and kept pulling at the arms... Hope you're better with them by now.

You shouldn't hold degus like that, it's natural instinct to play dead when held In that position as they used it in the wild to trick a predator. They do not like it. He/she is playing dead I do not mean this as hate by the way, just some advice and your degu is very cute☺️

well I'm not sure if that's the case here, although I heard that can be an explanation why they are so calm like this, but this one was especially calm at all times,. The degus I have now are not even close to this state of calmness, but always trying to escape.

@@Dream_Trance I know with rabbits if you hold them on their backs, they get kind of hypnotized. Some are more sensitive to it than others. I do believe degus must also have it :-)

I got Degus too, and they don't like that. 😒

Degu on side or back usually means ill or stressed and playing dead. Poor thing it literally trying to push the guy away. That's not tameness people. Even a degu on it's own asleep doesn't sleep on it's side.

Not true. In rare cases you get degus who are completely relaxed with their owners. My degus sleep on their back or side all the time, it's perfectly normal.

I would also like to know as I do it quite often, obviously not a whole one, but between the 3 mine i'll share a quarter of a full wheetabix so a fairly big chunk, but they munch it in seconds, but considering how good a wheetabix is for a person.. I don't know how good it is for them so I don't do it often. as Degu's eat low nutritious foods, vegetable leaves and petals usually, few nuts/seeds, degu nuggets and ofc a ton of hay.

I’m not so sure weetavix would be good for them. Whilst high in fibre it is high in carbs and they can suffer from diabetes quite commonly

Hmmm to me he didn’t look happy. His teeth don’t look good- do you have a company for him? Or do you keep him by himself? Degus should have company of other degus otherwise they get depressed.

@@Dream_Trance to w takim razie koniecznie znajdź druga koszatniczke- one muszę żyć w stadzie z minimum jedna ponieważ wpadają w depresje i szybciej umierają. A po tej koszatniczke już widać pierwsze objawy włączając w to stan uzębienie. Sam człowiek nie zapewni mu tego co drugi osobnik.

@@Dream_Trance widać po ząbkach m.in- powinny być pomarańczowe, wówczas są zdrowe. I po ogólnym stanie niestety. Warto przebadać koszatkę :)

@@ZuzannaRybarczyk zawsze staram się dawać im karmę dobrej jakości - bezcukrową, a także jakieś papierowe rolki do ścierania zębów

If I saw my gerbils acting like that, along with the fur condition, I would know my gerbil was sick or on the verge of death. I've heard that degus are very similar in disposition to gerbils... But I don't have personal experience with degus. This video just makes me very concerned about its health. Hope this baby was ok at the time of filming.

The animal is being tortured and you do not see that ?? the degu acts as if he had a nakose in it .. you can see immediately on the fur because it is not at all okay! honestly do not understand how to be so stupid and something does not see and even comments like "oh how sweet" can post below !!

Our 2 still won't go in our hand so we can lift them we let them out in lobby for run abt what abt out side in grass with cage over them shame as they only been out side 2 times in there ball
