Happy Days (2000)
Музыка
A middle-aged woman, half-buried in the earth, chatters away to a taciturn man, who lives in a hole behind her. Later, she is buried up to her neck, and the man does not seem to be about.
"Happy Days is an adaptation of Samuel Beckett's challenging absurdist drama, a play most would deem unfilmable. Faithfully adhering to Beckett's minimalist original, a black parody of love, marriage, and our search for meaning in an unfathomable universe, the piece consists of but two pathetic characters. One, wife Winnie, spends the duration of the drama half-buried in a pile of dirt; in true Beckett fashion, her predicament is never explained. The other character, husband Willie, is almost never seen. Dublin stage and screen veteran Rosaleen Linehan, in the lead, is exceptional as the trapped woman clinging to the empty, arbitrary routines and rituals of life, ever hopeful that 'this is going to be a happy day.'" Such a naturalistic and nuanced delivery, making the absurd accessible and compelling. Wonderful stuff.
Rosaleen Lenihan what a masterclass - wonderful! Samuel Beckett would be proud. 👏👏👏👏👏
How does this have 3 likes???? Show some love to Winnie, she needs it i think!!
I’m amazed that these masterworks get as many views as they do. No explosions! No cinematography! Just dialogue. Peerless dialogue. Peerless Monologue! I guarantee their soporific essence to Kids Today.
Fucking hell. What a hilarious and terrifying masterpiece of writing and acting.

Best version of the play on KZread and anywhere else I've ever seen. Rosaleen Linehan is perfection, the direction spot on, and staging it in the desert in such a way makes the play all the more profound.
People settle for a level of despair they can tolerate and call it happiness

Wow...!!! Bravo...!!! And this is the first time I get to see Willy, also...!!! Loved every minute, every word...!!!
I’ve got a feeling I’m going to be watching this for the rest of my life. As good as Krapps Last Tape.
Superb performance - great understanding.
“The Platform” just popped on my Netflix feed…just started watching - it’s very good. Kinda weird, Netflix and KZread aren’t connected in any way as far as I know, anyway, happy coincidence I guess.
Isn't she magnificent! ❤
Rosaleen is unaware there’s a High Tide in Dublin Bay today
Though I say not what I may not let you hear Yet the swaying dance is saying "Love me, Dear" Every touch of fingers tells me what I know Says for you, it's true, it's true, you love me so
Where’s The Fonz?
What’s in that bag, Winnie?
