Happy Chinese, Episode 2, An Image Issue (Learning Chinese Series)

An entertaining Chinese TV series, with English and Chinese subtitles, aimed at advanced learners of the language. However, beginners and those with limited knowledge of Chinese will also be able to pick up a lot from the show, not least because of the subtitles, but because there are regular fun and engaging vocabulary, phrasal and grammar review points which cover all the basics that even the complete beginner would be learning in the first few chapters of a study book. This series has something for everyone.

    这节目非常好 - 我感觉很高兴找到 - 期待一直看!I've searched long and hard for what I felt were useful, entertaining, and applicable lessons for my level of Chinese. Many available resources, as you know, have low quality sound, or archaic language, etc. This is absolutely awesome, and I'm so glad i found it. Thanks so much!

    I'm learning at a pretty basic level and these really are helpful, not as a learning tool but more of understanding pronunciation, sentence structures and when to use what kinds of words and sentences.

    This show is pretty cringe no cap but it holds this innocent aesthetic of a simple life full of laughter and devoid of anything dark or serious (almost like a kids show :0) which is why im still watching. Also i really wanna learn Chinese

    I like how the main character in this show is the foreign woman and her friend, but it ends up being 90% about all the men in the show, and they are quietly on the side. Also why does she have to be so ditzy.

    Absolutely, just for laughs I think so too. I'm curious though about how important it is with drinking culture. I mean if someone wants to toast to me - a visiting foreigner - is it very important to follow through and empty the glass every time?

    Hello Jonatan I think the episode shows that it's not required but doing it is viewed as being polite (only if you can handle it ; if you cannot handle your alcohol intake, then it's foolish)

    I know this is an old comment, but I started watching this again. Susan’s real name is Mariana Panait, she is Romanian and she has been living in China since 2001, married to a Chinese man. I got all this from a Romanian written interview (I am also Romanian). Greetings !

    If you move to the best coments, there's a post by an user called S. B. S (or something like that) who wrote all the dialogue from the episode. It's in chinese characters but with a translator like pleco it's easy to translate every character and word.

  • @abdullahisaahmed5366

    @abdullahisaahmed5366

    7 жыл бұрын

    Karla Ayala I guess there isn't much different from what you were being taught. Ni Zao 你早 it's mostly used in the spoken language to shorten some certain sentences (for example ¥250, it's been pronounced as ErBaiWu 二百五 instead of saying ErBaiWuShi (块钱)) . It doesn't have any effect when it comes to the meaning as when you decide to elongate it as in Zao Shang Hao 早上好 'OR' Shang Wu Hao 上午好 (The two most commonly used 'Goodmorning' greetings in Chinese but just a Little bit time difference). Hope that'd help.
