Happy 80th Birthday Jimi Hendrix! I share my Hendrix Vinyl Collection in celebration.

#vc #vinylcommunity
First off, thanks to everyone who watched this rather lengthy video. I kept this more anecdotal since the releases can be looked up as anyone's leisure.
Secondly, without question, thank you to Jimi Hendrix. The gifts we were bestowed are many, and all from a place of love and respect.
Lastly, thank you to those who are continuing to give us quality releases to still experience what Jimi did every time he stepped on stage. He took us to his electric church.

    Hello from Sweden! You gave me goosebumps, it was like i was listen to me talking. those feelings you talked about having when you listen to bold as love.I have them exactly. And i have had those for 55 years now. I am 65 years old, and many of the records you dont have, I do. I even met and talkt to Noel Redding. It is allways nice to meet a soulmate. Thanks

    Wow . I was, to respond to the comments you gave at the end, completely in tune and fully appreciative if your presentation. It filled I alot of gaps I have in the timeline of release of albums and alot of surrounding info about the "era" of each. You held my attention throuout , because y I urge perspective is well informed and fueled by a deep perception and influence of who and what jimi was and did. My take is US STRIKINGLY SIMILIAR in that I value his self expression as one that is the most fully realized this demonstrating , as you noted, the almost unlimited capabilities that each of us as human beings may possess. He showed that by developing on ihis own, through deep desire drive and loveo of music , without a teacher or any training , HIS INNER SENSE CRWATED A new, unique, as well a bext step ir extension of what was there already, as proven by his INFLUENCE on so many guitarists and impact onall popular music of the time and still directly influences current musicians. His music and ability uses have even increasingly recognized by a wide range of musical genres from jazz to any that cB be named, almost. BD , COMPOSERS , PRIDUCERS, song writers and others also at least know if his music and appreciate his profound musicianship , and relevance of his creativity in terms of their own type if musical involvement. What I am leading to is to say that what you think about human potential and the possibilities that are real and actually available in each person, if wcan find a way to discover and develop live, express and interact in this world giving g the beauty finding the harmony and tuning I to the positive forms of life that are available fir us to enjoy and that Re meant for humans to enjoy and o yrimmbute to and with others Sorry for unclear words in attempt of ne to show jimi as example of inspiration type oh human who achieved

    Thank you so much for the kind words Howard. It is always good to see and hear that people see Jimi more than this guitar player he was. His talent cannot be denied for sure, but his determination and desire to make music his way made him special. I am so glad you found that spirit in him as well. He was a unique soul indeed. Thank you for spending some of your time with me. I hope you are well, and in good health, and look forward to chatting with you.

    I really appreciated all of the terrific and comprehensive information on all of the releases Tim. If and when a fellow collector posts a video of their Mighty Blimp collection. I kind of scan through it just to see if there are any rarities or bootlegs that I do not have. If its all studio releases I will hit the thumbs up and go my way. When it comes to Hendrix I am only about 50% literate when it comes to his overall studio releases including box sets. I do have a few really old boots. I think I have LA 1970, a Tarkl pressing called Pipe Dream and a Trade Mark Of Q from Hawaii. I think they are all seventies pressings. I think. > Rob/Boston

    Thank you for the positive words and feedback Rob. I dont know if I knew early Experienced/Axis reissues were numbered. I have a numbers People Hell and Angels and Both Sides of the Sky, if I could get a numbered Neptune on the cheap I would. I also passed on the UQHR releases of those two. I dont have a setup that would benefit from that kind of pressing, and $125 is a bit steep in the budget. Would be cool to own, but not a high priority. I feel like the collecting of those bootlegs have diminished in recent years. The internet is a great source for a lot of shows, and since most are audience recordings anyway, its hard to pay a premium price for something recorded from someone's shirt pocket. That said, if they are of a decent price I might spring for them. I feel the cd market is better for that price wise, but sometimes still over-priced. Still fun to have. Hope all is well and you are staying warm up there. Always appreciate you watching and commenting. All the best to you my friend.

Even though the sets repeat, it has one of ky favorite live tracks Machune Gun. I never get tired of that song.

There are plenty I still need (the soundtrack, Nine To The Universe , and my two big wants at the moment the Winterland Box Set and Blue Wild Angel, just to name a few) but I will keep tracking down those. There is so much information out there l, and let's face it most is from a single perspective. But I am still learning things too, which is the most fascinating part of his legacy. Ha ha, I have Live N' Dirty on a CD and I find it absolutely hilarious but musically, it's lacking. Loved getting the history here and seeing your entire collection. I am big on Hendrix but not as well versed and deep into the history. I always wondered about the Alan Douglas Era and getting your background is great. I am with you on spending a lot on Bootlegs. When everything is out there digitally now, I won't pay more than cover price on a boot. Like you, I am happy the released the Forum tape officially. I was all over that when the preorder was announced.

  • @HighnoonsVinyl

    The Forum was a long time coming. Any of his L.A. shows are highly coveted for reissue as those were circulated a lot. I would love to see the Paris 68 and San Diego 69 shows from Stages on wax. I think the Paris 68 the tapes are not sourced well, as they did a separate cd release on Dagger records. Still would be a nice to have. Live and Dirty or Wokr Up This Morning or whatever of the 30 names its been released under, I first heard with a friend and we were "experienced". I was like Morrison and Jimi, let's go. Morrison made it almost unlistenable. Musically Jimi was in jam mode. You might have had some nuggets but you can tell as he just kept repeating he was frustrated with Jim. And who wouldn't be. Its a jam, not a swear fest. But, I have it.

    Hello 😀Tim; The Hendrix vinyl collection. Good to hear a personal recollection of the first time you heard Jimi & the impact made on buying the records. The Albert Hall concert was shown as a midnite film in theaters. Originally released legally though incomplete on Ember records England & Bulldog records US. Charley records issued the show as a two CD set minus Lover Man. Hackensack Blues w/ Curtis Knight is from the PPX series, some have been released & are available on Amazon. My husband is the Hendrix fanatic. Hope this helps. Take care, 👩Tina & 👨Pat!~

    Curtis Knight!!!!! For the life of me his name was not coming to me. I dig some of that early soul stuff Jimi played on, and I think it is important to document. But I remember digging for cds in the 80s and 90s and 13 different albums would have the same songs all unofficial. It was maddening. The control needed to be tightened. Alan Douglas had some good ideas at times (like I mentioned the Essential discs are my favorite best of comp) but he made some poor decisions a lot too. But now we are treated to more quality releases and as long as I am kicking I am buying them. I hope you two had a wonderful holiday and are well. Hopefully I did Jimi's memory proud Pat. I would have loved to seen him live or even something in the theater. When Jimi played, we knew no worries, only music. Take care my friends! Much love to you!

    Excellent tribute video Tim. Very informative. I enjoyed watching it all. That’s a very impressive collection you have. Shamefully I must admit I do not own any Hendrix on CD or Viynl. Back in the 80’s and early 90’s I had quite a few cassettes. I need to work on adding some of his music to my viynl collection. Here’s a big question for ya. For someone who doesn’t have any Hendrix in their viynl collection. What 2 Records would you recommend ? Asking for a friend 😉

  • @HighnoonsVinyl

    @HighnoonsVinyl

    Hahaha! Interesting question. So if it were me, I would say there are 3 to start with, and that is the 3 true albums he released. They all stand up as true bodies of work from his creative mind, and flow really well. Good news is, you should be able to get each of those under 25 dollars new, and anything that says Experience Hendrix on it is pressed almost to audiophile standards at QRP. They are no Brainers. Beyond that, it depends on the mood. Live? Band of Gypsys is a must. Love the blues? Get the Blues comp. A best of comp is decent, but most focus on the hits. The Essentials series give you both. But Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold as Love and Electric Landyland will always be where I steer people first.
