Dune probably has the most unique and recognisable soundtrack of any blockbuster in the last two decades. It feels both futuristic and ancient at the same time. I can easily see it entering the limited pantheon of revered cinematic soundtracks alongside Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurrasic Park, etc.

I try and play up the “cool guy” personality, doing all that “puppies are kinda cute I guess” “star wars was like decent” to seem edgy and cool so it’s tough for me to geek out over stuff and admit that it’s actually impacting me, and I tried to hold onto that mentality through watching part 2. But when Jessica drank the water of life and fetus Alia Atreides opened her eyes, mixed with Hans Zimmer going absolutely bananas on the soundtrack, I kinda just accepted that this movie is too good for me to try and put on that “ehh it was alright I guess” mentality. I had to keep reminding myself throughout that “no, you are enjoying this a lot, it is moving you emotionally, stop trying to dismiss that and let yourself enjoy it to the fullest extent possible” and as much as I feel like a dweeb for being so newly passionate about some sci-fi flick, THIS FUCCIN MOVIE ABSOLUTELY SLAPS! I’m a big anti-Hollywood doofus, but credit where credits due, Hollywood finally hit one out of the park.

And the evening you spend in the theatre watching it is an evening you will remember for your whole life! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Update: I watched it again on March 8 and I'm going completely nuts, I've never been obsessed with a film like that before, it's perfection (yes, I know there are changes from the book, but I think they are for the better). I read the book 24 years ago and lost my copy a long time ago, so I'm going to re-purchase the complete saga and also the films on Bluray. Hans Zimmer has written a lot of brilliant scores in his life, but his music for Dune...is really something else man. It sounds so otherworldly yet so personal at the same time, and the entire three-album score is all the proof you need that Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest composers to have ever lived!

Hans Zimmer was busy composing soundtrack of Dune and hence he recommended Ludwig Göransson for Tenet. Both nailed in both the movies.

Hans using the Giger paint job Ibanez guitar is far from a coincidence. Giger did original designs for Jodorowsky's failed Dune project, which led him to doing Alien and so on and so forth. It's a great tribute to another amazing artist that also put a lot of time into another piece of Dune.

I had the honor of seeing a Hans Zimmer concert a few days ago in Paris and they performed this soundtrack too. This woman's voice gave me chills during the whole performance. She and the whole band were absolutely amazing. Also Tina Guo (cello) is amazing ❤

I love how this mixes the music together from the first movie in a new and interesting way. I also love the addition of the new vocal sections. It’s as if we were only getting a hint of the power of the alisan al gaib in the first movie and in the second Paul truly comes into his own, reflected by the music.
