This scene always makes me cry but it is a good lesson on life. We cannot make people love us. Family will not always love us or love us in the way we want them to and it’s just something we have to accept. The “it’s alright” broke me. Having to make peace with hatred is very difficult.

Yes it was so sad, specially his mother who died of sadness.
Hans will get the last laugh when he becomes Emperor of Nilfgaard.

I thought that was such a cool episode. Especially since I had seen the Storyteller only a few months before I saw Witcher
I do not have the foggiest idea why, but Hans eating, always scared me when I was younger. Maybe its just the mixture of that, and the makeup, but its just so weird what we find scary as kids.
Fun fact: the voice actor for Hans at this age, is Stephen Garlick, who previously voiced Jen in _The Dark Crystal_ .
This story made cry when I was child. But I was happy he had a happy ending.
Poor hans
I always felt bad for him and hated his father.
Jen's voice from Dark Crystal
I am the storyteller and my story must be told
