LYRICZ:
hah hanging on
yeah just scraping
whatever you make gets taken
doing the best that you can to get by
days get longer
a choice there is no other
go along or go under cuz it's time
wheel ain't stopping
you're on and you're locked in
in the end you get one thing, nothing
pain gets stronger
life on your shoulder
go along or go under cuz it's time
it's time to get a real life
and get a 9 to 5 until the end
it's time forever on the edge
just working for your thread until the end
hah hanging on
ooh keep scraping
all of your time gets taken
doing the best that you can to get by
nothing other
never stop to wonder
go along or go under cuz it's time
blood's all sucked out
eyes been poked out
in the end you get one thing, nothing
pain gets stronger
life on your shoulder
go along or go under cuz it's time
*repeat pre-chorus and chorus
it's time
right where you're supposed to be
living somebody's dream until the end
it's time
right where you're supposed to be
thinking that you are free
until the end
*chorus
on and on and on
on and on
KNOWER is Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi

Because success/widespread popularity is largely down to luck, and gatekept by a consolidated music industry who choose what gets heard based mainly on whether they think they can make money off of you (and if you're willing to sign away your creative rights to them). Mass production is key to maximizing profits, so they pick a handful of acts to push and flood media with. Talent is no guarantee of success in the music world, just like in most other pursuits in life.

What Istas says plus this being too intricate for the masses. You may perceive it as refreshing and innovative, most people just want unsurprising background noise, not something that makes them nervous or demands attention. I think Louis Cole is doing pretty well by now on his own though, there are plenty of folks buying directly from him on bandcamp.

Once in a while, something comes along and grabs you by the sould-bone and won't let go until you've told everyone you love about it. KNOWER did that to me today. All I can say is thank you.

I don't even know if this is my favorite Knower song, but, for me, this one is BY FAR the catchiest. I haven't been able to get this song out of my head for at least 5 months, according to my KZread comment history. I start thinking of this song or humming the chorus at least once a day.

I am besides myself, wondering why it took me almost seven months to get here. Truly poised against a backdrop beautifully decorated. Each sound has such a special place, and resides there without effort. The chord progression fills me more than any meal ever has. That groove constructed by the bass is the perfect rhythmic marriage, with no divorce in sight. Genevieve sits atop the ensemble uttering the words as a part of her creation. This song is a well packed gift to the human race. Thank you Knower!

it's such a tiny detail, but that super crisp hi hat hit in the middle of the chorus drums is.... I dunno, perfect? A tiny little accent that I hear so clearly and somehow helps make this track for me.
