Hanging Ceiling DRYWALL by MYSELF with help from a DEAD MAN in our BARNDOMINIUM Workshop

Drywall is a lot of work, and 10x more effort when doing it alone. Thanks to a Dead Man (2x4 T Brace) and just pure personal drive, I got the entire workshop drywalled. The Barndominium life is close. The house in town is going on the market really soon so we need to accelerate some things to enable our move into this Pole Barn.

The first light where your cutout tool walked out and made a bigger diameter cut happened because you cut in a clockwise direction. When cutting on the outside of a box, you go counterclockwise and it won't walk out and cut a bigger circle. When cutting on the inside of a door or window you should go clockwise. This is due to the direction the bit spins.

ceilings are a piece of cake if you rent a drywall lift. you can do the whole thing by yourself and not throw out your back or fall off the ladder trying to lift a heavy sheet of drywall. it can even do angled roofs like a cathedral ceiling.

something else I've done where I can't use a drywall lift is to screw a board to the wall about an inch below the ceiling. then you can slide one end of the drywall over the board and it will hold one end while you get a few screws in. a dead-man would still be helpful when doing that. sure makes it easier to let the board hold it on one end, though. then you just remove the board after you've screwed in your drywall.

That thing holding up the drywall for you how do you have that on the bottom how does it stay on the ground correctly

it is just the end of the 2x4. The 2x4 T-brace (Deadman) I built is just slightly taller than the height of the ceiling so when I pull the brace into position holding the drywall up, I wedge it into position until it can hold its own. It works very well. It also helps if you have a second set of hands to position the dead man while you hold the drywall in place. It gets really tricky when trying to do it alone. Hope this helps answer your questions. Thanks for watching.

Nice craftsmanship. I still don't understand the staggering of joints. I doubt sheetrock pro's take the time to do that.

Same idea as staggering bricks when building a brick wall. The longer a seem the more likely it is to crack. A sheetrock pro who doesn't stagger is doing subpar work... and most pros don't stagger.

I’ve seen tons of people put the insulation in like that but I just don’t get why it clearly states on the instructions to overlap the studs for a vapor barrier why would you put it inside there like that creating a chance for air to flow through when you had the perfect opportunity to do it right

Many applications don't require a vapor barrier.
