Very interesting social experiment. Personally the thing that would make be more distrustful is that there are some scammers, at least in my country, and they start with something simple like a handshake just to lure you into something and it can be very annoying.

Yesterday I went to the store, there was a homeless man standing next to me, I thought he would ask for money, but he just wanted to eat. And when he got what he wanted, he was shocked that they took him something to eat. Don't turn your back on people if you don't know their intentions. Put yourself in their shoes.

This was one of the biggest culture shocks I had on getting to the US from Nigeria. In Nigeria, most times when you meet someone for the first time each day, you shake hands, or make some kind of physical interaction to set you up to nicely relate with each other. On getting here, I get to go for weeks without getting a great handshake.

I understand one thing, that the richer people live, the less they become people. The more comfortable the living environment, the further people become from each other spiritually. The material destroys the spiritual.

I enjoy interacting with friendly people. It is sad to see how much disconnect and mistrust there is; in public spaces. This man politely exposed the current state of modern mindsets. It would be interesting to hear his thoughts about the making of this video.

This is not a bunch of people being antisocial; it's one person acting strangely (demanding a gesture of familiarity from people who don't know him or what he wants from them), and rewarding those lacking the sense and boundaries to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. Harmful precedent! And I note that two who shook hands/not boundaries/obedient to the demand of a stranger are quite young; all three presented as feminine. This is how girls and women have been socialized: to prioritize the feelings and wants of others even over their own safety and well-being. Rewards for that keep it going. That's not good for anyone but predators

I totally agree! It’s not the handshake that’s the problem it’s the approach that’s off putting. The people who did shake his hand were pressured into it. You should never feel like you HAVE to oblige to unwanted attention. Greetings should always be mutual and in the appropriate context.

People out there are so cold, all over the world people always seem to have disdain for others, here in Brazil everyone is very friendly, Our people, despite all the difficulties here in Brazil, we are still kind and friendly to everyone. I love being Brazilian

You guys will make anything about race. Its absolutely laughable to say that everyone refused due to internal racism. Its fucking weird to walk down the sidewalk holding your hand extended in an attempt to get someone to shake your hand. His clothes could also do it it. Trade the black hoodie for a suit and take off the durag. You see more shakes or put a white man in the same clothes and watch as he gets the same reaction. Again its the attire and the weirdness factor. I doubt his race played a part except maybe the old white woman. She refused and looked repulsed. She may have refused because of race. Also monkey see monkey do. Some saw others refuse his handshake(those that paid attention at least) and refused in kind. If everyone starts running the otherway, but you cant see why. I bet you would also start running the other way. I likely wouldn't shake the guys hand, but not cause hes black. Because its just weird.
