Hey guys Joelster here, I teamed up with Lustre to help you find other Projectors similar to this one on Amazon, check out the link right here: my.lustre.ai/mVTRJ
Wow, great footage! Very few projector reviewers capture this high quality video.
Thank you for posting this review! I just bought one for my fiance for Christmas and was worried that I might have chosen the wrong projector! You eased my mind!

Nice video! One of, if not the only good more in-depth video review I could find on YT of the Epson 3800. Lol surprised others havent made any videos on it, seems like a really nice projector for the price. Went ahead and ordered it, coming in a week, can't wait!

Not sure what want yet but I think I'm all in on this one its chunky seen in best buy the thing is I have somewhat low ceilings and a ceiling fan so might be an issue for me to mount so gonna go with a tripod but also thos only looks this good because. The screen and they aren't cheap. Just hope looks good on a somewhat ok screen Definitely won't on then 25 dollar foldable cheapy choppies
Thanks for the review. Gotta say, I know it’s your personal preference but the remote size isn’t that big of a deal. It’s comparable to many TV remotes and a lot of projector/home theater people will probably use a different remote most of the time once everything is configured. You’re also looking at a smaller screen due to your distance-it’s super sharp still from further away. As for the quality, it simply blows us out of the water-shows in UHD HDR have brights that are almost like looking at the sun-some people call it a “light canon.” Also, the projector boasts Atmos pass-through including many other features. The projector has also come down in price from $1,700+ to $1,399 recently making it one of the lowest priced full-featured projectors. Originally, I was looking into a BenQ in this range but I’m glad I picked this up instead.
Is there a reason why you went with a grey screen over a white one? I’m planning on installing my hc 3800 on the ceilling and use it in bright day as well. What screen would you recommand for a scrolling screen? 90-100 inches
Would you rather get this Epson 3800 4K or the LG HU70LA 4K??? Which ones overall better? And does the LG have horizontal and viertal shift?
10:20 I’m not getting all the green check marks on mine. Could anyone help me out? I’ve got it hooked through a Yamaha RX-V381 if that matters.
Hello Sir, as it does not support 2160p/24, will that be a problem for UHD Bluray disc playback specially movies ?
Great review!!! Ty!!
Quick question how did you unlock to be able to customize we just bought ours and we can’t change the aspect or brightness it’s just locked
Thanx for the lovely conversation today joe. Thanks for your advice. Love from india
Hi Joester. Great recipes. Can you let me know what brand that white projector stand is that you're using. Thanks in advance.
Not only the remote I've seen this projector in person its huge as well.
Hi Joelster, I have the same projector and the 5D screen. Can you kindly share your 3800settings ? The color of my setup is kind of yellow !
Great , kindly give me a detail setting for colour calibration on 3800 projector, only movies I used it for.
Hey my man. Great to see your another video. Great video joe. Help needed. U have also reviewed ht3550 dlp. How is the direct comparison between two mainly in the terms of 4 k eshift sharpness as epson has 2k shift and ht3550 has 4times shift
Hi joel what you think is better this or the lg hu7la thanks?
I was comparing so many projectors and I think the BenQ X3000i and the BenQ TK700STi are the best ones if you want to also game on the projector. Im leaning more toward the TK700STi since it is a short throw.
What about the focus issue people keep talking about? I would get it but apparently it's an issue?
I know its not a true 4k but if I hook up my desktop, can I have the same screen real estate as a true 4k monitor? I want to use It as my main monitor. This projector is many years old already but still one of the best in the price range. Been doing alot of research. This one looks like it will cause me the less problems long term. I can buy a new bulb and filter from the same company or 3rd party. Benq and XGIMI has too many reviews of people having to use warranty and dead pixels after warranty. Between dlp led laser. Can't decide one way or the other?
Great picture
Hey thanks for your review, you just helped me decide on my upgrade! Thanks so much
Nice review! I notice you have it set to the side of your couch. Are you using any horizontal lens shift? Also, what projector stand is that? I am having a hard time finding a stand that will fit the dimensions of this projector. Looking to have this thing sitting to the side of my bed since I don't want to mount.

Yes, colors and contrast remains superior, I have done comparisons with different ALR screens and cinegray and white screen, and you can see how brightness clips and colors look washed in a white screen.
How is the contrast on this projector? Say for watching movies like star wars with deep blacks. Do they appear nice and black? Thank you for the thorough review.

I'll be trying this out tomorrow hopefully. I just ordered the 2017 version of The Fifth Element in 4K Ultra HD and it has HDR content so I will be able to tell how good the contrast is then. Otherwise, it's very similar to the Epson 2150 which also has surprisingly good black levels for a projector at that price point.
You don't need the epson glasses. You just need active 3d glasses, the ones for dlp projectors do not work but Amazon has some where you can get 2 pair for 50 bucks made by Sintron model st07-bt

Did you have a chance to compare with 3200 (aka TW-7000 in EU)? I wonder if blacks on the cheaper model are acceptable.
@OMGWTFLOLSMH
8 ай бұрын
The blacks on the 3200 are dark grey, at best. The 3800 has noticeably better blacks, but still not pure black. The better contrast ratio is literally the only reason I bought the 3800 over the 3200. I have zero use for the built-in speakers and trigger out port.
based on your experience and opinion, does this Epson or the Benq 3550 have better colors, brightness, and sharpness? My viewing environment is light controlled, not much viewing during the day.

JoelsterG4K , We have the Epson 3700(1080p) and playing around with the gamma can really change the image quality drastically, similar to photoshop “curve” tool. However we are considering the 10 bit 4k /60 on the new 3800 thinking it would work better with Amazon fire stick and 4k movies streaming, than down sampling to 1080p(3700). Do you think the 3800 is worth upgrading from the 3700?
I bought this after lots of research. I would have preferred the savings of the 3200 because I don't need the speakers or the trigger out port. I only bought this for the higher contrast ratio, so I hope I appreciate the difference after I set it up, because I could have saved over $550 by buying a refurbed 3200 over the new in a box 3800 I pulled the trigger on. All my friends told me to "go for the better one". Thanks for the video.

@JoelsterG4K There are no third party 3D glasses that work with this projector for 3D? I understand if you want the ultimate perfect experience, but plenty of third parties make 3D glasses that work with name brand projectors really well. I have a set of 4 for my Epson 2150 that are NOT Epson brand and they work REALLY well. Especially when watching Avatar 3D. It's some AMAZING 3D for knockoff 3D glasses IMO. You have to pull the projector back to make the screen bigger. The farther the projector is from the screen its projecting on the bigger the image gets. Think of it this way, when you turn on a flash light and put it close to a wall it makes a small dot of light but if you get it farther from the wall the light spreads out covering more surface. Its the same thing with a projector
wait, so an ALR screen is fine with a normal projector and not just a UST projector? I thought ALR screens are SPECIFICALLY for UST projectors only? Someone please correct and educate me on this. thanks :)

@@bliglum I'm sure you feel good about yourself as a consumer and all, but I can tell you that the image on my Epson 3800 has a much higher resolution than my two other 1080p projectors in the house(bedroom epson 2045 and garage-outdoor epson 1450). Even with regular 1080p content the 3800 upconverts it to a much higher resolution and it really makes a big difference when looking at a 120 inch screen. Screen door effect pretty much goes away entirely. If you believe it is "crap" you won't feel like you are missing anything and I get that. Psychology is cool like that...no big deal. Better sleep that way. Enjoy your tiny little 4K tv! I have two of those as well and they rarely get turned on. @@snauspockets9924 Right, it's a 1080p image shifted. So it's basically 2 1080p images interlaced. Sharper than 1080p, but about half of true 4K/UHD. Maybe calling it 'crap' was a bit harsh. But I'm just not a fan of when when companies lie to customers, claiming their projectors are '4K' when that is quite simply not true. And again, it's not just the tiny little 4K TV. I've also got a 1080p projector, have for years. And yes, I agree. It is hard to go back to little TV's after you've gotten used to 120+" of projector goodness.

@@bliglum I wouldn't call it lying exactly. I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. If you look at most reviews they'll tell you it's great tech and very hard to distinguish the difference between a true 4K image and a pixel shifting unit like the Epson. The 6050 uses it and is no slouch. I got the 3800 for it's super high brightness with still great black levels as I use it in a livingroom with lots of light. Turns out the image is amazing as well. Blacks are great. All I can say is that if you got your hands on a 3800 for a week, I think you would be very reluctant to give it up. Especially with the 99 dollar lamps.
