Hands-on elysia: nvelope | the transient shaper/ transient designer In the first episode of our new tutorial series "hands-on elysia" we invited our friend and music producer Carlo Corrieri from the Producer-Duo "Tough Sale" to talk about transient shaping with nvelope.
"Tough Sale" stands for modern and sophisticated music production. Carlo will guide you through nvelope and give you an overview of the sonic possibilities of that beautiful analog product. The first example on shaping drum loops/drum sounds.
In the history of elysia, this is one of the most important product besides the alpha compressor, because our CEO, Ruben Tilgner, invented the original Transient Designer for SPL in the 90s and then developed this concept even further to the next level. The results are awesome in terms of pristine audio quality, usability, and overall creativity.
nvelope is available as a 1RU 19" Rack Version, 500 Module (nvelope 500) and nvelope qube!

Would you generally use this before, after or instead of a compressor in the chain?

We recommend to use a compressor after the processing with nvelope.
does the 500 actually sound like the rack one?

Thanks for your inquiry. Please check the differences in this blogpost: www.elysia.com/the-elysia-hardware-purchase-guide/
Well, if you compensate Volume, there is only an annoying HiHat left. The Fullness/Roundness of the Kick/Snare is gone. But hey, for sure works in a mix ... if you have no Volumefaders ;)
Auto gain!!!
without gain compensation , this review is pretty muc useless
