Angel Policies & Copyright There seems to be a lot of confusion following our recent Masterboard Prompt, especially regarding the use of stamped images and whether it is legal to use them in our Masterboards and then copy them for our own personal use. Kylie and I have carried out an extensive amount of research regarding this, and it is our conclusion that if you scan or photocopy your Masterboard for your own PERSONAL use, even if you have stamped an image on it, you are NOT IN BREACH OF COPYRIGHT. There are no terms of use on stamp packaging because the term ANGEL POLICY is not a legally recognised one. You as the buyer would have to agree to the terms and conditions PRIOR to the purchase of the stamp. No contract has been established between the copyright holder and the buyer and the Angel Policy is therefore NOT legally enforceable. Many of the common stamps we all use have been created from images in the public domain, and these are not copyrightable and you are free to use them as you wish. A stamp can be copyrighted, however for the copyright to be granted, the image would have to be be changed so significantly from one in the public domain (for example a butterfly or a flower) that it was not recognisable from the original image. Please be clear that we would not condone copyright infringement and we ourselves would never knowingly do so. We are referring here to a very specific use and would always suggest that if anyone is unsure about their use then they look at Copyright Law. If anyone requires any further clarification, there is a great site which contains a wealth of valuable Angel Policy and Copyright information if you are interested. Tabberone.com

I am curious about the supposed legalities of selling something with a stamped image on it. Just because they say it's their policy it doesn't necessarily make it the law. They are selling you the means to use a stamped image, not the stamped image itself. It's not up to them how you use it. If they want you to keep the resulting image a secret that is invasive. They didn't invent butterflies etc. It's not an official copyrighted character. If they took you to court for selling a card with one on would a court uphold that as if you've injured their business? I hope someone can check that out if they know anyone in the legal system. I would be very interested to know for sure if they can demand private use only. I can't understand legal jargon myself. 😊
By the same token, the copyright issue could be extended to the use of books, magazines, newspapers, napkins, patterned paper, fabrics, die-cut shapes, stickers, washi tapes, etc and everything else we use in mixed media projects. It makes no sense at all to worry about these things!
I threw out four stuck punches only last week! Hubby rescued them from the bin and revived them by squirting motor bike lubricant into the mechanism. After a couple of hours and a good wipe down they are as good as new.

It makes me madder then a pig at a buffet when punches do that! Martha’s punches are good for that! I appreciate any suggestions too! The hubby that took them and applied like a WD-40? I take a screwdriver and push that inside of that heart and sometimes it works. Thanks for the shares!👍👏👏👏❤️🙏😁
When my punches jam... I take a screwdriver and tap or pry if need be to unstick the metal. Love these ideas. Thank you for reminding us on the angel policies.

Metal expands when heated and retracts when cooled...perhaps put it in the freezer for a few minutes and try knocking it on a concrete or hard surface (carefully, of course)?
Hi, When punches get stuck like that first try to knock it hard against a hard surface right way down. Try a few times, and you have to knock quite hard. Don’t use tools to hit the metal part, you risk to dull the sharp edges that way. When the punch gets unstuck punch a few times with waxed paper. I have found this works the best for me. 😊 Hugs, Erika

Sorry you are feeling anxious, you have done the right thing making people aware. Lovely buttons & try putting punch in freezer metal will contract a little so hopefully will be released. Then after that pouch out some foil this can slightly sharpen the punch. X

A phone book? Can’t remember the last time I saw one!
Good morning nina, really my jaw dropped , if you had used glue to put images of butterflies down, it would have been ok then???? Sometimes I just don't understand these rules, why make life so difficult???? Well that's out of the way, loved your buttons and I will make them soon. I am making a journal about frida kahlo and now I am working on the finishing touches and I will add some fridabuttons. Well have a good week and be a butterfly.love lena

Morning Lena. Basically, don’t stamp and scan. I had glued the stamped images on to my Masterboard as they were already stamped on deli paper from another project, but because I then scanned the Masterboard (even though its for my own personal use) that is the issue. You can only use original stamped images in any project, so to stamp on a scanned or photocopied background is fine. Anyway, I’m glad you like the buttons and I think Frida style ones will look fabulous. Have a wonderful week and see you next Sunday 💕💕💕

I always thought if you were using the stamps for your own personal use and not selling it was ok.Even your photo copies you are not selling, but are for your own use, otherwise what is the point of even buying them 😕.What a carry on! Years ago we took a craft class and we had punches that would not move. Machine oil, for sewing machines wouldn't work, screw drivers were used to pry them and then finally I said drop it on the floor, it's broken any ways. She dropped it and it worked! Never had trouble again.

Your buttons are fabulous. Good luck fixing your punch. That looks like a good one. I am a slammer, and that has worked for me. I have used wax paper and sandpaper with mine, but never a lubricant. I was afraid the oils would continue to drip on my paper. Sandpaper and tinfoil are suggested as ways to sharpen, and the wax paper to keep the metal grinding smoothly. Love what you have done with your master boards. I made mine out of romantic/vintage Valentine cards I have received since the70’s. Don’t cringe, I only saved those with a certain look. I had about fifteen. I love how they came out. My friend copied them for me on her scanner. I didn’t stamp on them yet, but you have given me some great ideas. I don’t sell my work, but I wonder now if I should even bother using them. Such a scary area. Thanks for everything you do to improve my creative journey. You are an excellent teacher. I saved this video to two Pinterest boards! Hope people will see it and hit all the right buttons. LOL

Keep punches relatively jam free by "sharpening" .... punching into double or single folded aluminum foil multiple times.
That is a beautiful “matte “ you must use them, not waste them, this whole thing with “you can’t use them, you can use them “ it really has got carried away. It’s something you created. You aren’t selling them. Like the other lady said stamp over them.... this has been blown out of proportion
