Handling Ballast Buckets

Does this position look familiar?
Ever think a simple change of foot position can make all the difference. The Fighting Stance massively reduces the pressure on your lower back.
Give it a try next time and see if you can feel the difference.
In this series "Manual Handling in the Rail Industry" we show you how we apply our techniques to a real working environment, with awkward shaped, potentially heavy items.
At Elite Force Safety, we believe in the power of in-person training.
Our sessions are led by Military Veterans who bring their unique expertise to the table, providing practical, relevant training that goes beyond ticking boxes.
So, if you're tired of generic, eye-roll-inducing training and want to experience something tailored and engaging, get in touch with us at www.eliteforcesafety.com.

Make sure to alternate sides when you can to evenly distribute the load on your muscles so you don't become lop sided.

I like this. Thanks. I live with a shit back, know ths stuff, but often don't apply it. The imagination to do a fight stance and sighting a 'green zone' has stuck in my head, and I think you've made life better for me.

Biggest thing here is not to say ; ‘mind your back’ but to use your back properly ie keeping your spine rigid and squeezing your abs tight.

Sorry, but this is a disastrous method. You lift a heavy weight and at the same time make a twisting movement in the lower back area. There is nothing worse for the intervertebral discs than this method.
