Part of our 14 Day Colorful Colorado Adventure. This route is definitely one of the easiest Colorado 14er routes if approached from American Basin! It is 2,500 vertical feet of gain and 5.75 miles round trip. The only catch is that you will need to 4 wheel Cinnamon Pass (part of the scenic alpine loop road) in order to reach American Basin. The side trip to Sloan Lake may be more spectacular than the 14er itself. It is definitely a must see!

Did somebody say hike TELLURIDE!? The hike to Hope Lake is spectacular and has less distance and elevation gain than most hikes in the area. Problems? You need any SUV to reach the trailhead. The hike to Berthoud Falls is absolutely incredible just outside of Town. It is a must see. For a bigger challenge, consider the hike to Navajo Lake (once again though, SUV required). These are THE BEST hikes around Telluride! If you get too sore from hiking and want to go off-roading nearby Ophir Pass is Laura's all time FAVORITE Jeep trail in Colorado and we have done a bunch together. We really endorse the heck outta' Ophir Pass. - Happy trails! Steve (& Laura)
