@@heleenad4273 It's kind of a spoiler from the end of campaign 1, episode 114. If you want to know it anyway, Arkhan (a character played by Joe Manganiello, special guest of the last episodes) after helping Vox Machina to defeat Vecna, immediately after he stole the Hand of Vecna pretending to want to destroy it, but instead he cut his own hand and replaced it with the Artifact. Before disappearing using the same Hand of Vecna, he turned to the now exhausted group of heroes and said "I'M SORRY IT WAS JUST BUSINESS", after which Joe himself fled the table, under laughter and screams of surprise of all.

Addendum for Paladins: Divine Sense (Paladin 1) This will allow you to sense the nearby presence of any nasties, be they celestials, fiends, or undead within 60 feet. You can use this a number of times equal to 1 + your Charisma modifier. Recharges after a long rest. Lay on Hands (Paladin 1) You start with 5 healing points and can use them how you wish, be it giving just 1 point to wake up an unconscious being or 5 points at once to cleanse someone of a poison or disease, but multiple diseases or poisons will require multiple uses of 5 points. Your healing pool maximum will go up by 5 each time you take a paladin level. Recharges after a long rest. Fighting Style (Paladin 2) You get to choose between four: * Dueling for added damage when fighting one-handed. * Defense for +1 to AC when wearing armor. * Great Weapon Fighting for a chance to reroll low damage with two-handed weapons. * Protection to impose disadvantage against a target trying to attack anyone within 5 feet of you, IF you're wielding a shield. Spellcasting (Paladin 2) You can prepare a number of spells each day much like a cleric, the only difference is that the number is determined by your Charisma modifier plus half your paladin levels rounded down. You gain 2nd-level slots at 5th-level, and then 3rd at 9, 4th at 13, and 5th at 17. Divine Smite (Paladin 2) Costs no action to use, and you can choose to apply when you hit so you don't waste a slot if you miss. The amount of radiant damage depends on the slot level you expended. 2d8 for a 1st-level slot, increases by 1d8 for each higher slot for a cap of 5d8. 1d8 is added immediately to all attacks at level 11. Divine Health (Paladin 3) You become immune to disease. Sacred Oaths (Paladin 3) Your choice of an oath grants you a single use of Channel Divinity and Oath Spells that don't go against your spell total, all of which are thematically appropriate for each oath. And one more perk as early as level 6: Oath of Protection Provided you are conscious, you and any allies within 10 feet of you gain a bonus to saving throws equal to your Charisma modifier. The range expands to 30 feet at level 18.

Being a Yuan-Ti Pureblood guarantees her several strange looks when she walks through town, but even more surprising is the large holy symbol she wears proclaiming her servitude to the Platinum Dragon Bahamut - certainly not the kind of deity anyone would expect the generally chaotic breed of snake-people to worship.

With the Hexblade Warlock, I've seen so many Paladins just multi-class into that with the minimum STR requirement of Paladin to get out of it of 13. So they just focus instead on a bit more DEX to be +2 for medium armors, and just more or less go all in on Charisma due to the Hex Warrior benefit of the Hexblade. Seen most just take a 2 dip into Warlock since then those are 2 first level spell slots that recharge on a short rest, they might go 3 just to go Pact of the Blade to always have a magic weapon in the future. But that's the extent I've seen typically then they just go all in on Paladin again.

Ahhh my favorite class. Nice to see some of the changes they made in 5e. Having only played 3.5e there was a point where most of the spells were meh and the damage really fell off unless you prestige classed well. My chosen God is and will always be Bahamut.

I love to mix paladin with other casting classes like sorcerers and bards or even wizard, clerics, and druids as the increased spell slots from investing into full caster levels is great for high damage smites and depending on the full caster you spec into the bonus defense and melee capacity can be amazing

Can't be any evil if all the bad guys are too busy shaking in their boots to cause trouble... just don't end up a Hell Knight, or else every other Paladin in the realm (including and quite possibly especially other Conquest Paladins) will expend every spell slot to smite you simultaneously.

Funny thing about paladins it’s your oath that gives you power. Your dedication to your own words is what gives you strength. That’s why my favorites are Oath of the Crown, Vengeance, and Conquest.

I have an Oath of Devotion Paladin (tenets: honesty, courage, compassion, honour, duty) who is a devotee of Eldath (peace) and took the Folk Hero background pretty much for this exact reason. She's a girl from a town that was sacked by a warlord; when someone from the town militia was killed right in front of her, she felt compelled to pick up their sword and fight, thinking this was a little nudge in the right direction by her goddess. The flavour text with the "compassion" tenet of Devotion says, "Aid others, protect the weak, and punish those who threaten them." The "Rustic Hospitality" feature of the Folk Hero background notes, "Since you come from the ranks of the common folk, you fit in among them with ease." The common folk will shelter a Folk Hero who doesn't show they're a danger to them, but will not risk their own lives... for a Paladin of Devotion, I feel like this can also be swung around to the fact that they will also protect the common folk, from the smallest hamlet to the biggest metropolis. The other option, of course--as someone else mentioned--is just to take the Oath of the Crown. (She's also an aasimar foundling, raised by humans who own a bakery; I chose chef's tools for her tool proficiency from the Folk Hero background. When she uses magic, the area directly around her tends to smell like spices like cinnamon or cloves, or smell like fresh bread or cookies, etc.)

Paladin is one of those classes you pick when your rolls are superb, because you need so many good stats to keep a Paladin alive. Good Strength and Constitution because you're on the front lines. Good Charisma for your influencing Skills, and good Wisdom because that's your spellcasting stat....unless that changed in 5E and now Spellcasting is Cha based.

In the older editions (like 1st and 2nd, they got rid of it for 3rd), classes had stat limitations so you could only play them if your stats were good enough. Paladin's required a Charisma of 17 if I remember correctly. The only classes you could play if your stats were too bad were the core four, fighter, cleric, thief, and magic-user (which is what they were called in 1st edition), because you only needed something like a 9 or 10 in their primary stat.

I was a conquest paladin in a oneshot. I was a Kobold named Pelius the Blue and was both a devout child of Tiamat our rainbow scaled queen, and was had a very outgoing and lovey demeanor. He just thinks mama Tia is the best and will take any opportunity to show that off either showing his holy symbol (that was really an arts and crafts macaroni and sparkles level Amulet) depicting a rainbow colored Chinese dragon, or by finding any coloring books with Bahamut and color him like the rainbow with like 3 extra heads. Now he's not really a "bad" lizard but he would be seen as an enemy just because of what his society was. really want to use him for a proper campaign.
