    The reason why dissertations are printed on 90 or 100gsm paper, is that, as they are deposited in either the faculty library and/or the UL, they need to be able to withstand wear & tear and constant use. Glad the Terry's chocolate oranges arrived whole and not in pieces

    JustSayin24 It depends on your Faculty. The Faculty of Geography deposits all undergraduate dissertations in the UL after a period of time, while other faculties like, e.g. Land Economy hold undergraduate dissertations in their faculty library. The UL mainly holds PhD thesis's and dissertations, together with other higher degrees (LLD, &c.), as well as MSc, MLitt &c. dissertations in the Manuscript Department Not all of the faculty holdings are publicly catalogued, some can only be found use the departmental card library

    I need to say that I almost cried when I saw Wetherspoons. I visited Cambridge last year and was the first place I recognised in your video. Now that I let that out, I have to say that I've finally found someone from the same area as me, and that understands the struggle of typing notes for some subjects. So, I'm a new subscriber now! Hope your life is going the way you wanted in this video :)

    I'm just going into Part III. My revision notes are pretty much all simplifications, or re-formats of the lecture notes. I type these up using screenshots of the lecture notes if I want to incorporate diagrams or equations (since there is no extra information that I would bother adding).

    I like to hand write my notes. It allows me to draw things easily. I heard that you remember things better when you write them, but that could also apply to typing. I don't know, I just feel like I remember better when writing.

  • @SlightlySaturated

    @SlightlySaturated

    DEHMO some theories point to the fact that we write slower than we type so our brain has more time to internalize what we are writing. That's why apps like Notability and Goodnotes is pretty popular now because it allows you to handwrite on iPad and the same time save your work digitally. I like to mix both methods :)

    im studying coding now and i do both..tto me repitition is key in understanding concepts..first i try to write notes beside my codes so i can quickly access them and take a look from my computer..and when i have a good grasp of tje concept ill write it down in my notebook using my own words..this way i can explain a certain concept easily...plus it reinfoces the knowledge you just gain..

    I agree with you. Handwriting is good for comprehending deeply the contents of the writing and remembering for a long time. Because the method uses hands in person, it uses more brain than computer typing. Moreover, handwriting improve writer’sunique calligraphic style and transmit thinking with effect.

    I always do handwritten notes because the sensation of putting permanent ink that is not easily erasable or removable encourages a person to put more thought onto the things he writes. I type fast so when I type notes, most of the time, I don't even remember what I typed. Also, I don't think much about it because the backspace button is so easily accessble. New sub here!

    Glad to hear that Jake is feeling better. Nice to see the bike footage, it adds context. Mail time! Much more graceful than Casey Neistat's Mail Time. ;) I wonder if Jake will be able to share a Graze promo code, or if that is frowned upon. I am not familiar with the concept of a chocolate orange. I wonder if it is a British thing, or maybe more of a posh chocophile thing. I am very glad that we can continue to enjoy Jake's vlogs onward into the foreseeable future. He projects good energy, and I know that he really entertains, educates and inspires many of his viewers. Certainly he has had a profound positive effect on my life. Thanks Jake! Jake's tidying is like organizational porn. Everything feels better when it is optimally organized. I like watching Jake clean and then seeing the optimized end result. I could do a little more tidying myself. I like Jake's writing rational. When I started college I got a MS Pocket PC (ran Windows CE) with keyboard. I was convinced I was going to type all my lecture notes. Then the professor would do math or draw a diagram and I would fumble to reproduce it. My handwriting was also very weak on tests. Handwritten notes can be important. I wish there was a better alternative, but I don't think we have the perfect technological replacement just yet. Tablets with the right app may be viable, but I haven't experienced that yet. I hope Jake's Greek vacation is going well despite the recent economic challenges there.

    Mr. Blue Sky what do you mean 'linking videos'? I'm still adding them to the playlists (this one and the previous one weren't added straight away because for some reason that's not a feature when they're scheduled).

  • @MrBlue789100

    @MrBlue789100

    Jake Wright Oh really? Sorry mate! All of the other videos have a feature at the ends where it loads the next video automatically, therefore Cambridge Vlog 1 would automatically play on to Cambridge Vlog 2 and it would carry on like a playlist in order :) But I thought you added that in, or 'linked' the videos to eachother straight away, so that's my fault. But yeah, I used to watch them and just have them running in the background like a podcast, and that chain gets sort of broken around Cambridge Vlog 63 (as in it no longer auto-plays). It also sort of messes up the order where you've stopped numbering them, but it's not a huge trouble. Really I was just asking about the auto-play thing, but I guess you've got a backload to get through, no worries! Cheers

  • @jakewrightnet

    @jakewrightnet

    9 жыл бұрын

    Mr. Blue Sky The autoplay thing is done automatically but I had a look at the playlist it is hopefully based on and it had a few vlogs missing that I'd forgot to add. Hopefully now that the playlist is up-to-date the autoplay thing can fix itself and suggest the right vlogs in order.

    _I_ prefer handwriting both my notes and problem sets. I know of a few who took their lecture notes and type up their psets in LaTeX. Their typing skill and speed was perfected over years of software design and programming. They are more comfortable with typing than writing. I attempt avoiding typing because my handwriting has gone to pot. So many times, I am cosigned to typing on computer. Posting comments is a case in point.

    I beg to differ, for me I reach peak typing speeds of ~180wpm and have a bunch of shortcuts on word which I type for example \therefore e ightarrow which I type instead of having to write everything out. I transitioned from using handwriting and it makes it so much neater in my case. Also the ability to just read it on a phone or whatever digital device I have is so much more valuable to me.

    Lol. It’s stupid to be so nerdy just to get into a prestigious university. At the end of the day, you get the same education, except you just went try-hard mode for no reason. I bet nerds like him sacrifice hygiene and a social life for the sake of studies and school.
