Ive been learning from KZread. Hand quilting is a true talent. I grew up in a family that made the quilt top and had someone else hand quilt. Glad to see a young person continuing this art.

Hello! I'm interested in learning how to quilt and I don't have a sewing maching but somehow doing it by hand is more satisfying. Could you share maybe some resources or places you learned how to do a good hand stitch and get comfortable with how much yarn to pull, knotting etc? I'm totally new and finding those who hand stitch is so rare. Thank you!

i’m working on my first hand quilt and got a hi-loft batting. i’m worried about how taught the backing needs to be because i had to keep scrunching and then flattening out the layers just to even pin it all together. if the backing looks a little wrinkled and scrunched is it ok to go ahead and start doing the quilting or should i try to re-pin it a little smoother?
@RooneySewingPatterns

I'm not a quilting expert (maybe someone else can weigh in!) but I would imagine you'd want to try to get it smoother before hand quilting!
