Hand Sewing Tutorial (LEFT HANDED): Backstitching

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Backstitching is the strongest hand sewn stitch you can do. People often are concerned about the strength of hand sewing and honestly regardless of what stitch you use it is much stronger than you think. However, for seams that have stress on them like arm holes, shoulder seams and some body seams a backstitch is an ideal choice. Great hand sewing practice for historical hand sewing and better modern hand sewing technique! Practice along with me to remember what your hands can do!

Lefty here, I really appreciate this video. My brain has a hard time converting right handed instructions. This is very helpful to see it demonstrated for us left handed people. We’re just out here to trying to survive in a mostly right handed world. 😅 ❤

This video was very informative and greatly appreciated as a lefty. I don't know why I never thought about using "bisecting" as guide to keep my stitches even paced. But now I know. Thank you!

As a left-handed guy, watching this video refreshes my memory, because the last time I was taught how to stitch clothing was when I was at a very young age, although I still stitch up to this day (just turned 21) , but I was having doubts with my stitching patterns if I was correct or not, so watching this videos helped a lot, it was also a little bit nostalgic, thanks for uploading this.

Im super new to any sewing, but this video has been wildly helpful. I wanted to try right handed and left to see which I would be better at, and found that I'm a lefty for sewing. Seriously well crafted video, and I'd say a fantastic general stitch that everyone should know. Thank you for all the time and effort youve put into this!

You are such a dear!!! I watched your right- handed video because that is what came up when i searched. I noticed you wrote RIGHT HANDED in calls so then i came looking for this video and it's HERE!!! A funny thing happened-i watched the right handed and i understood by it looked..... difficult(?) Now I'm watching the LEFT (flipped) version and it's completely clear in my brain. Thank you do much for taking the time to post both directions.

Thank you for an informative video without using too many words. You offered some great, practical methods for spacing evenly and knotting off - both things I struggle with. I really appreciate you!

Thank you for the left-handed videos. Do you have a blanket-stitch video for left-handed sewers? My work looks like something that belongs on a spaghetti plate, again thanks and God bless and keep you 😊
