    Thank you. Hope your pair are doing well. We didn't get any more pink opaline fallows in these clutches like the pretty hen you got from us. Blossom and Songster will have one more chance this year. They are the pair who produce them (when they do). We hope to get more pink opaline fallows next time as we have someone asking for one or two. Their next clutch will be the last until 2020. Blessings, Gail

    I actually have budgies and was wondering that if the boxes 📦 would work

  • @RosieBirds

    @RosieBirds

    Budgies and Bourkes use the same size boxes. However, Bourkes need some medium in the bottom of their boxes. We use about two inches of pine shavings that are sold for hamsters and such. Budgies can get by with just an indentation in the bottom of the box that holds their eggs in one place, but Bourkes need the extra shavings.

    If you were to make a tame bird from not-tame parents, how would you do so? The not-tame birds doesn't live with me, and the wanted-to-be-tame bird should live with me. Should the baby be taken away and handfed, and at what age?

  • @RosieBirds

    @RosieBirds

    3 жыл бұрын

    Bourkes are easily hand fed beginning at two weeks of age. However, remember that you must begin by feeding them five times a day every day and keep them WARM. Once fully feathered you can cut back to 3 or 4 times a day, but hand feed until six to eight weeks of age. You must be totally committed before undertaking this. Also, it is wisest to raise two at a time as they will be happier and help keep each other warm. Single birds are lonely birds ... best to keep two, both as babies and as adults.

    Does it still need the parents then? 😊

  • @RosieBirds

    @RosieBirds

    @@Crazysigne2 Birds that are not hand fed still need their parents until they are safely weaned between six to eight weeks of age. They fledge earlier, but still need help by being fed, unlike some other varieties of parakeets. For instance, Budgies, eat on their own much sooner than young Bourkes can.

    Hi Rosie are those paper boxes 📦 used for breeding

  • @RosieBirds

    @RosieBirds

    3 жыл бұрын

    No. The tissue boxes are temporary substitutes for the babies removed from wooden nest boxes while I hand feed them. Their parents have wooden nest boxes hanging on the side of their cages, leaving he full cage space open for flying. Bourkes need flying space. The paper boxes give them someplace to hide while they are still growing up as I hand feed them.

    Hello!!! Please can you tell me the size of your cages? I want to buy one for a couple. Thank you!!!!

  • @RosieBirds

    @RosieBirds

    We have three sizes. The most common for our mated pairs is 30 inches long, 18 inches wide and 18 inches high. The one in the video with the babies is smaller because it fits on our kitchen table and they didn't need the extra space for flying until they grew up. We also have a cage that is the same dimensions, only taller. It is used when we have many young birds that are flying and need the extra space because there are many of them. Thank for asking. Best wishes with yours.

    izabeau1953 ... See answers on two other of my videos where you asked the same question. Sometimes our parents do all the feeding, sometimes we co-feed to make them tame, and other times we pull them at 2 to 3 weeks of age to finish them by hand feeding. For more detailed information, you can write to my email. It is: rosie.birds@gmail.com

    Rosie Bird thank you , sorry I asked the same question. On other videos. I will keep your email address. I looked today and see she has 10 eggs. But I think half of them are not going to hatch as thy have been there a long time. I really would like at least one or two birds hatching. Will wait and see though what is going to happen . I have had fed my budgies before but thy end up dying, so I won’t even try with my bourges. I see yours are already big , when you hand feed them. If mine is that big if thy hatch I think I would manage. But how would I know thy need to be hand fed...🤷🏼‍♀️

    @@izabeau1953 Hand feeding is not a requirement. I feed at 2 weeks of age to ensure they will be tame.
