Hand Feeding Our Pet Bluegill and Bass!!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this Tank Tuesday we will continue aquascaping around the Stonehenge with some new plants including clover. We also add some more Dwarf Hairgrass and a Marimo Moss log. We attempt to add some driftwood but it wasn't ready yet. Last but not least, feeding these aggressive fish, including hand feedings!

I used to do exactly that when I had a 210 gallon aquarium. I had all kinds of wild, native fish in there. I would remove the hook and go “fishing.” It was fun to see him hit it

I think that you should use the old tank for Bonnie and Clyde to make a bed if they do end up spawning so that The sheriff doesn't eat the eggs.

Bass eat crawfish don't they. I fish for bass often, and I've often used crawfish lures (and real crawfish a few times). Have the bass in this tank tried to eat the crawfish?

Making the old 55 a minnow breeding tank or maybe getting a water tote so you could have a lot more would be a good idea. Lessens the chances of transferring any parasites to your fish.

I had a tank with large and smallmouth bass, plus two bluegill, sunfish and a very large crawdad. The way I made sure the crawdad got fed was by taking one of those fish hook removers with the chosen food (either a redworm or minnow) and take it down to him. The really cool part was watching how he ate. Like eating corn on the cob until completely gone. Glad to see your fish healthy and adjusting well. It's a job keeping them that way. I would compare it to keeping a saltwater tank. Lots of daily checks and medicating. Especially after introducing new plants or creatures, including the minnows and worms used for food. Main one I found to watch out for is "Tail rot". I had mine over 2 years and they were healthy as can be. Wished I could have kept them.

I have a 30 gallon tank with a 4 in bass and I would like to have that 55 gallon tank, but I know it's never going to happen. Can't wait until next Tuesday!!

Love these updates!! This is awesome but it looks like A LOT of work. Hopefully people don't start trying to copy this without the proper tank, filters, etc.

For the 55 gallon tank I say you start a creek native tank and include a couple of the small minnows in your local creek in there so you can have a bit of a community tank with a bunch of different species.

You should use 55 gallon as a quarantine tank for the feeder fish. Feed these feeders high quality pellet so as to gut load them. This will allow your fishes to enjoy high quality food without going through the torturous procedure of pellet train them. It also prevent any disease from transmitting to the basses and bluegill.

Does weather/barometric pressure affect how aggressively they feed? Thank you
