  • @kbrodeur

    there is no "plugin" it is custom written and built. just like a 3d rigging system, you can't just press a button and poof. you have poser, and other things like 3ds rigs, but they are generic and there is no way to do anything like that as he is faking 3d with 4 months of work to render and chop this all up. It could have been done in maya or maybe 3ds too but it would still need scripting for all the line work and shaders along with pop out controllers and morph targets.

    For small teams there are other tools like Blender or Anime Studio where you can do roughly the same out of the box without people specialized AE scripting and tooling. Especially if you're gonna work with more complex characters.

  • @DavidLGood

    @DavidLGood

    8 жыл бұрын

    +noidexe That's not really true. Blender is a full-on 3D modeling, Animation, and Rendering application. You don't get this kind of functionality "out of the box." You'd have to spend hours and hours and hours rigging your characters to be anything close to what they've presented here. Same with Anime Studio, or any other software. What they're demonstrating here is a custom rig.... which I've had to do both in After Effects as well as in other 3D applications (Cinema 4D, Electric Image, Blender). No application comes with this kind of preset rigging "out of the box."

    I've been trying to find a plugin that can accomplish something like they show at 13:00 for lip syncing. (Similar to Flash's Keyframe Caddy plugin) Is anybody aware of something like this? The closest I've found is Leem's animation sprite swapper, but it's only text-based, not thumbnail based like what they show here.

    It's pretty crazy that we have to spend so much time making stuff like this. Why isn't it built into the program? Why can't they use a 3d beak, have a tool to make 2d shadows and physics to do the squashing? Would Maya have been a better option? Seems like they are using a program for something it isn't meant to do. I'm asking this as a genuine question, they know far more about animation then i ever will, not implying they don't know what they are doing.
