I thought that they'd force him to censor that part for promotions because so many times songs got banned or censored for brand names - should apply to people too. I think that part is in reference to how Justin Bieber gets a shit ton of hate & the haters want him gone but he is still around. JB still has a lot of fans despite how many antis he has. I don't give a damn about him & don't care about him at all, I'm not fond of hearing him mentioned in Korean stuff either. I know that Justin Bieber was immensely & annoyingly popular a while back, I don't know how he is doing now because I really don't care. Whether we like it or not, Justin Bieber has more global name recognition than everyone in kpop so he is still bigger than the artists in Korea. I don't know about his "artistry" in music because I avoid him like the plague so I can't really comment on that. But nonetheless, for this, JB was just used to illustrate that immense hatred from antis (especially the ones that mock idol rappers as if they're all unworthy of calling themselves a rapper) wishing for his career to be over won't stop him from continuing on with his work.

When referring to a popular artist that gets hated on a lot but still has kept going - Justin Bieber is a pretty damn good example. Idols want to collab (in an official capacity - not like MAMA where it is an award show that only kpop fans care about) with western artists as a way to bring more attention to kpop. Western artists have more global recognition whereas kpop is at a smaller level. Imagine if Beyonce chose a kpop idol to do a feature in a music video & that kpop idol did an amazing job - it would create an intense surge in popularity for that idol. Not only that, but western music is more popular with the Korean public than kpop is - so it isn't surprising for idols to also really love western music too. Personally, I don't want JB involved in anything kpop - no mentions of him, no covers of his music, none of his songs on dramas or varities but sadly that isn't going to happen. Justin Bieber certainly gets a lot of hate & isn't viewed highly by most people outside of his fans, but in other countries - he is still well liked & still more popular there than some of the artists from their own country. I don't know anything about the statistics for the Baby MV outside of it getting to a billion+ views sometime after Psy's Gangnam Style. The view count is still large either way, the likes or dislikes doesn't matter that much to them - it's the views. All the fans that watched & all the haters that were stupid enough to watch it to give JB more views/money in order to hate on him in the comments or whatever. I was shown the MV by a friend several years ago when I asked her who he was because I had never heard of him & didn't care to look further into him - certainly a good choice on my part.
