    How come, that i dont feel any pain when doing deadlifts or nordics - but when i do a lumbar spine extension i get a sharp pain in the biceps femoris (i think - pain is on the far right of my hamstring). i pulled something while sprinting at max - and i do rehab all the time but after weeks i am not able to run or play soccer.

    when exactly you recommande to stard theses exercices in line with the recovery time that you mentioned in each grade of injury ? is it after the recovery time or during the recovery time ? let's say a hamstring injury grade 3 recovery time is 3 months so when to start them exactly ?

  • @ClinicalPhysio

    @ClinicalPhysio

    2 жыл бұрын

    It is definitely worthwhile to be doing exercises during the 3 months, but they will be a gradual build up towards these exercises. The exercises in this video are mid-high level and so will be towards the back end of the 3 months. *There cannot be an EXACT SAME start time for every patient*. We need to make sure we treat each patient differently and consider their symptoms and how much they can tolerate the exercise. For example, one patient may be recovering quicker than another and can start at 10 weeks… but if you start a patient with more irritable symptoms at 10 weeks it could take them a step back. THEREFORE… if you feel they are ready to progress and they can perform 8 reps comfortably with no lasting discomfort then they are ready

    thank you very much , on 24th of octomber i had a hamstring strain on fooball, physio said it was grade 1 (from 1 to 3) , i had 10 visitings to the physio and everything looked fine, after i returned to trainings (1 month later) when i tried to shoot i got a strain again , i had 10 more physio sessions, then again everything was ok , so i started training but this time iwas more careful, just 3 days ago , approximatly 1 and a half month after my returning to training i tried to perform HIIT sprints and i got a strain again, this time i am trying to strengthen the muscle by going every other day to the gym and performing all the exercises regarding hamstring and gradually i will increase the weight and the difficulty, is this the correct approach?

    Thank you very much for this great video. I have been suffering from a recurrent distal semimembranosus tear for a long while. Each time I think it gets better, aftrler a very tiny move it reoccurs, which is really annoying. I have heard that the Askling protocol is a good way to start a rehabilitation. Do you recommend it or I should just begin with Nordic hamstring exercises? Thanks a lot again and all the best from Turkey.

    I have a permanently detached semitendinosus, an avulsion tear. This happened around 5 years ago. I'm pretty much back to normal but I can't really sprint anymore. I'm in my late 40s but still do Thai boxing and bjj plus other exercises. Do you think this would still be beneficial to help strengthen the other two hamstring muscles in the damaged leg? It still feels very weak when trying to use weights (machine curls) on the single leg. Can only lift between 5 10 kg.

  • @ClinicalPhysio

    @ClinicalPhysio

    Hi! Yes it totally makes sense that you would aim to strengthen the other muscles, I suppose you may just hath to think about progressing more slowly in line with the fact that your hamstring muscles are weaker compared to the other side or compared to how they used to be

    @@eliasc.3110 It pulled a piece of bone with it when it detached. I copied this. An avulsion fracture occurs when a small chunk of bone attached to a tendon or ligament gets pulled away from the main part of the bone. The hip, elbow and ankle are the most common locations for avulsion fractures.

    I had a hamstring pain about 3 weeks ago playing football. I simply passed the ball with the outside of my foot and I felt like somebody shot me. I pulled up. Next 2 weeks no brusing but still some pain so went to the physio as it was less tender. He gave me some basic exercises to do and one week letter it’s all bruised up I’m so confused.

    This advice seems targeted to athletes and not everyday folks or people who are a bit older. Perhaps you should preface your video with who the target audience this information is for.

  • @RSRoadTo

    @RSRoadTo

    Жыл бұрын

    To be fair mate he starts the video talking about football players who are HSI regulars. He also talks about how do we, as physios, get our “athletes” back from these injuries. The target audience is pretty clear.

  • @rpark2109

    @rpark2109

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RSRoadTo Yea mate...I get it, he did bring up different sports... but some could interpret this as going to the most obvious examples where HSI happens. I doubt most the people watching this video, however, are pro-athletes even though those are the examples he uses. Because of his examples, does that mean his target audience is pro-athletes or even collegiate? And yes, he does say athletes...but athletes come in all shapes and sizes, experience, and body types. Not all athletes are professional or even collegiate level (these two types of athletes according to your logic his target audience). Most athletes are your everyday Joe or Jane who are just trying to get fit or stay healthy but some of the types of exercises he is suggesting would be extremely difficult for most people. So yea, mate... I get what he is saying and I'm not knocking the advice... but it would be nice if he was clear on who his target audience is (as I argued in the OP).

  • @_buany8701

    @_buany8701

    Жыл бұрын

    @@rpark2109 Im confused, your first comment says that it seems that the video is targeted to athletes, which is obvious in the beginning, but when you are told that that is the case, you say that most of his audience aren’t pro-athletes and that there are varying degrees of athletes? Of course athletes come in different shapes and sizes. However, they are absolutely not your everyday Joe or Jane. What would be the point of the word if it didn’t set the athlete apart from the regular person? And even if you interpret the word differently, it isn’t difficult to understand the level of athleticism the physio is referring to. And even if most of his audience are regular everyday people, that isn’t really his problem as his intended audience is clear, although I believe his advice works for most people. Did you want him to say “This video is intended for athletes, the healthy and professional kind, the kind that once ran at a collegiate level.. this video is intended for Usain Bolt and Usain Bolt only.” Regardless of the level, we’re all human and built the same. The advice he gave in the video will be useful for anyone experiencing a hamstring strain/pull. It may be more “extreme” than other advice recommended on youtube, but the advice certainly isn’t reserved for pro-athletes. Gyms are accessible for most people, especially your everyday Joe or Jane. Its up to the viewer to determine whether the advice is helpful and/or applicable to their situation
